.... and Iām not talking about todayās weather. Iām referring to Levy and Poch; the pair of them (more so Poch) talking a good game throughout last season and beyond about how things are going to go...
āThe most important thing that we have been talking about is to identify our targets and, on 3 July, when we start our pre-season, they are here..... We tried to make early signings last summer but we could not, for different reasons. Now, we are going to try again to do things early. If we cannot again, I am going to say: āCome on, we could not again!ā"
- Poch in December 2017
āSometimes you need to anticipate and say 'OK this player can be good for us' and then he goes to the World Cup. But you need to sign before the tournament starts because he is doing well and then you will have a lot of competition if they are good."
- Poch in April 2018
āYou need to be brave, in this type of situation being brave is important and you need to take risks. It is the moment in which the club needs to take risks."
- Poch in May 2018
āWeāre working hard trying to improve the squad. Itās a market that has only started to move very quickly after the World Cup and then this season the transfer window closes on 9 August. Be sure that we are going to do some movement but like always, weāre working hard. No rash decisions. Iām not worried."
- Poch in July 2018
All that bravado but nothing to back up the words, just Levy and Poch seemingly spending all summer holding hands like those Sesame Street poofs Bert and Ernie instead of making moves to strengthen the squad. Iām not trying to hear any of that drivel he spouted a couple of weeks ago and none of that waffle today about we couldnāt improve the squad; we made 1 bid for a player in over 2 months, and we left that until less than 36 hours before the deadline.
If the stadium is restricting us financially then that scrote Levy needs to stop being āshy and reservedā as that silly tart claimed he was recently and tell the fans the truth. If itās not that and heās more than happy to help inflate the transfer market but isnāt prepared to spend properly in that same market, then he should step aside and let someone else handle the on-pitch business and he can stick to the commercial side of things.
As for Poch, heās been in England for approaching 6 years now, none of that was lost in translation, so I donāt want to hear anymore of his token comments or opinions. More waffle than Captain Birdseye ffs.
Finishing 3rd, 2nd and 3rd in consecutive seasons and we make such a laughable attempt at pushing on and improving our squad, what an absolute shambles of a transfer window.
Absolute shower

I accept the fact that Man City are the best team in the country and even if they don’t replicate or better last seasons points haul it would be hard to eradicate that gap, but what have we done to try and bridge the gap, or at least be the best of the rest? Poch himself has implied that the PL and the CL are the trophies that matter, so does he think that players being a year older is the missing link? Does he not realise that players at other clubs could also improve with age?

I'm not going to comment.
The results of the first 3 or 4 games will speak volumes about what we should or should not have done in this transfer window.

Or that all the players aged 28/29+ could get worse

There is no logic to our approach to this window whatsoever. People trying to justify it with flimsy arguments such as players not being available. How do they expect to sign players without bidding? Clubs to send their players to us and then ask for PayPal to transfer the funds later?

Worst thing for me is just risk of going backwards or standing still (winning jack shiiiit) and losing Kane/Eriksen/Poch

Why blame Poch more than Levy? Poch is the one that has to talk to the media and public because Levy never does, and naturally he has to try and put a brave face on it and contradict himself to an extent, because all managers try and be somewhat protective of the club and put a positive spin on things. He's only being professional. Deep down I bet there is frustration and disappointment there.

I’m blaming both of them. Levy for his actions, or lack of action to be more accurate, and Poch for his words. If he doesn’t believe in it then he should stop being so weak and talking like he has been. If he’s complicit in this by sticking to the company lines etc, how on earth can he sit there and talk about wanting us to win the league and the champions league? That’s laughable in the extreme based on how last season panned out.
