Toby Alderweireld

Why was he left out if he is fit and ready?

We need him to start if he is still with our club, no?

Surely his attitude is not that unprofessional that we cannot even play him...

I think we all need to move on from Toby. He was good, still useful, but is not a long term prospect now. Sanchez is.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Toby was, and still Is, more than just 'useful' he is one of the 2 best CBs in the league. We have to play him if we want to succeed.

Verts is 31 now, should we move on from him because he's not a long term prospect? Play Foyth Instead? Ffs how long are we gonna keep on preparing for the future Instead of winning now, you were asking for Poch to be sacked at the end of last season because we didn't win anything and now you want to not play one of our best players to make room for a long term prospect?

Honestly can't believe you sometimes, called our defending comical today on the match thread but you're perfectly fine not playing one of the best CBs in the league, somebody who came in and helped make us one of the best defences in the league after years of being known as a team who gave away soft goals
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Our defending at times today was comical as a collective, but that does not mean that individuals we're bad, bottom line Spurs won the match. Sanchez had a good game, the goal apart. Not to say Toby would have prevented it, had he been playing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm with Christopher on this one.
I do not understand what is going on with Pochettino and Alderweireld. But he risked the match by putting Sanchez on the pitch and leaving Toby on the bench. I think Vertoghen did a lot of covering for Sanchez.

Ted, how did Poch risk the game by playing Sanchez and leaving Toby on the bench? Last season Sanchez played nearly every game and Spurs finished third. Toby was nowhere to be seen for most of the season.

Whether aldeweireld wants to sign a new contract or not is upto him.

While he’s a player at the club pochettino should be putting the best side out that he can.

If spurs dropped points today he would have taken some flak.

Oh, is that so? I would never have guessed.
Actually Alderweireld is a much more accomplished and reliable player than Sanchez.
Sanchez is for the future, when Poch has taught him correct positioning and other skills he needs.
Vertonghen and Alderweireld work together as a team. As a team they are the best CB pair anywhere.
I think Pochettino's inability to bury his ego and manage the club properly, putting the best possible elevn on the pitch, is going to be a problem.

Should be playing all 3 at the back, no one would be getting through it

Well Toby has hardly played for a year, so at this moment in time yes. And Poch obviously thinks the same.

"Well Toby has hardly played for a year"

What kind of a total stooopid clown are you?
Alderweireld played every minute of every world cup match the Belgium team played in Russia, including beating Brazil and England.
God, what a clown you are!
