Leeds Utd v Swansea City Matchday Thread

Coming thick n fast these games

Trip over the border to Welsh Wales to visit the once mighty Swansea can we maintain our 100% record on Tuesday night...……….Hopefully even though we started a bit ragged on Saturday I think MB will have spoken to the Lads and they'll be well up for this one. but with Swansea on 2 wins and a draw this could be a tough one

Venue...Liberty Stadium...Date...21st August...Kick Off...19:45hrs

Team News
Leeds will be without defender Pontus Jansson when they put their season's 100 per cent record on the line. The Swede suffered a back injury in training and misses the trip to south Wales, with further checks to be carried out ahead of next Saturday's clash against Norwich also missing will be Adam Forshaw and Stuart Dallas as they continue to recover from ankle and thigh injuries respectively. It remains to be seen whether striker Kemar Roofe features after he appeared to suffer a knock during Saturday's 2-0 victory over Rotherham. (Reports are that Roofey is ok i believe )

Swansea
Goalkeeper Kristoffer Nordfeldt is progressing well in his recovery from a groin injury, but he is unlikely to feature against Leeds, with in-form Erwin Mulder set to continue as Swansea's last line of defence.

Striker Wilfried Bony remains a long-term absentee with knee trouble, and Potter is unlikely to deviate far from the side that gained a 0-0 draw at Birmingham three days ago.

Match Facts
Swansea and Leeds haven't met since the 2010-11 season - their last meeting ended in a 3-0 victory for Swansea at Liberty Stadium in February 2011.
Leeds' last away win at Swansea came in April 1964, during a season when Leeds won promotion to the top flight - two goals from Alan Peacock and one from Johnny Giles secured a 3-0 win for the Whites at Vetch Field.
Swansea are looking to keep three consecutive league clean sheets since December 2015.
Leeds have won one of their last 11 away matches in all competitions on a Tuesday (D3 L7), a 2-1 win at Burton Albion on Boxing Day last year.
Leeds have won their opening first four matches of the 2018-19 season in all competitions - they have only won their opening five matches in a season on three previous occasions (1970-71, 1973-74 and 2009-10).
Swansea won their opening home game of the season, beating Preston North End by a goal to nil - they haven't won consecutive home league games without conceding since May 2017 (2-0 v Stoke City and 1-0 v Everton).

Thats it then i'm getting really nervy about the games now, so i'm going for a 1-2 just not used to all this positivity i suppose but i'm certainly enjoying it , .......Keep the Run Going

Tough one. I’ll take a draw but at times we look unbeatable. Swansea on Friday were terrible.

All points to a Swansea win

Glad I was half correct

Just about a perfect summation there Peak.

Could add we saw the nous and experience of a superb manager when changes were needed.

Fer ran the game, we got a great result from a very difficult game, both teams can only get batter, good time to play the jack at home. Philips was not onit today & then the card came too soon so Bielsa made a good decision.

Nothing else to say, onto next game.

Phillips looked like a red card waiting to happen. Good call by Bielsa and Baker repaid the trust put in him. We played without our 2 centre backs against one of the best sides in the division, at their own place, in front of a full house. In the last 10 minutes, we had chances to win. Harrison, Baker and Bamford are buying into this and look like they want to play. They will get better. We looked like a team tonight. Not at our best, but prepared to battle it out. We showed terrific character tonight, and Bielsa made courageous calls at the right time. MOT.

Refreshing to see Bielsa not afraid to make early changes, would be interesting to hear from players ever hslf time was like.

Absolutely JLA. It was a good decision to take Philips off once he got the yellow card. He sure as hell would have got another one had he stayed on given his role and the way Swansea were playing.

When I saw Phillips go off so early it’s just another moment where you think, finally a proper manager.

He WOULD have got the Red and we WOULD have lost season.

Onto the next 👍

And he’s not an asset

He’s someone else asset

He's our asset for the duration of this season.

If you had your first choice cb you would have won the game. You dominated the ball and had most of the possesion of the ball.

Swansea had one big chance in the second half but you made them poor.

If you can add some players to rotate in the upcoming games you have the chance to finish first or second.
