Settle a Debate

Question for you lot, as apparently I work with a bunch of morons.

If two people fly from London to Sydney, one flies via Los Angeles and one via Hong Kong.

In this scenario both planes leave at the same time, and are of the same duration, do both planes land at the same time even though one crosses the international date line.

My answer is of course they bloody land at the same time, otherwise you are facking time travelling, therefore my colleagues are idiots.

Over to you...

As long as they are both return flights nobody loses anything.

The LA guys will get the day back again when they go home.

Bang the Donkey.

There’s a game show we’d all watch. I think Bob Carolgees should host it.

There was no mention of naked until I suggested it.

You’re welcome

Bit flippant for a poster that’s just had a stroke while typing....

Tbh ive no idea if the flights really are of the same duration given the one flight goes with rotation of planet.

But how and ever..... dates are a human construct, the internationalm date line is a completely artificial thing.

But people are fascinated by this line where one side its today and the other yesterday or tomorrow depending on your perspective.

Of course the op's colleagues are thick.

A friend of mine I used to work with used to preach about a tree, that if it fell down in its own in the middle of the woods with nobody within 20 miles, would it make a sound? With no witnesses present, we can't prove it did.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Sound is just the working ear's (or microphone's) interpretation of differences of vibrations in the air.

The tree will always make those vibrations.
