Ivan Gazidis

Goodbye.

Don't expect many comments because lets face it. His stewardship of Arsenal has been just as nondescript.

You should be ashamed of yourself Gazidis

Gazidis: “Although it is very hard to do – the hardest decision of my life – I believe that, after 10 years, it is the right time for me to step aside to allow new leadership, energy and ideas to take the club forward into this exciting new era."

I bet you £1000000 it won't even be the hardest decision you'll have to make this week, Ivan.

But Venkatesham hasn't exactly done a sterling job with the commercial side of the business. So why the promotion to CEO?

Jobs for the boys, springs to mind.

Generally the way to judge what the priorities of a company are is to see who they appoint.

So for example if Arsenal had appointed the financial director as CEO would indicate that Arsenal are about to tighten the purse strings. They are looking for financing. But by appointing the marketing director Arsenal are indicating that they want to grow the club.

Now we don't know how much of that role Gazidis was doing that in the past. It could have been that Gazidis was doing all the main deals himself and not allowing the commercial director to do his job. We simply don't know. What we do know is that the Kroenke is satisfied that this man was the right one for the job and Gazidis wasn't.

Josh Kroenke could have fought to keep Gazidis. Instead he said sod off to Milan. I am not going to give you more money to stay.

Josh will take over and I hope Vinai will have more say he seems more a fan in my opinion.

Not sure it is a promotion to CEO per say. Just a change in role (with more responsabilities) from what I've read.
I expect Stan Junior to take on the CEO position.

I always felt that was never on.

Arsenal are now valued at £1.8Bn. Why would Kroenke Snr be mad enough to appoint a amateur to head a company worth £1.8Bn. Easiest way to lose the lot.

Can't help but feel this would not have happened without Usmanov selling his shares.

I agree with you but not for the reason I think you are suggesting (a negative).

While Kroenke only had 66% he was never going to put money in Arsenal. If you think abt it any profit Arsenal made or increase in its value, 33% would have gone to Usmanov for doing nothing. That meant Arsenal needed a administrator to keep things ticking without really expecting Arsenal to grow. And Arsenal didn't grow. Frankly most of Arsenal's increase in share value can be put down to the obscene money that has come into the premier league and not because Arsenal achieved anything. In fact we went backwards on the pitch.

Now that Kroenke has 100% I expect a real effort to get Arsenal to Man Utd levels of income. Thats the only way Kroenke is going to increase the very hefty value of £1.8Bn that he has already put on it.

Gazidis Legacy

- Paying average players too much money making them hard to sell
- The £40 + £1 deal for Suarez
- Crap medical department
- Players getting always in the final year of their contract, then offering them silly money or allowing to leave on a free
- Not having the bottle to get rid of Wenger in a timely manner,
- Our commercial deals haven't been that wonderful either

Think the new structure is similar to what we did when we were successful.

Edelman = Venkatesham

Dein = Sanllehi

Fiszman = Kroenke
