Derby County 2 - 1 Sheffield United

Thank fnck thats the international break over - however there was a smattering of interest from The Faithful with Derby players involved....well loanees and Keogh and Lawrence. We seem to have this debate everytime we have these pauses in the season but still they keep doing them

Derby are still waiting to get fully into high tempo cruise control and well done Derby for keeping the opposition constantly guess about what high pressing, play it from the back style we will play.....well it will only take one guess....

Sheffield United are flying high, they're from Yorkshire, we're at home and its on tele. I was in sunnier climes the last time these four factors came into play and was suitable chastened in a bar with many of the opposition fans

The Blades are currently top by a point but there again anyone can be top, not so long it was said that Leeds were going to walk the league, now look at them in .....er....freefall....a mighty two points from the top.

Derby have Curtis Davies and someone called George Evans back in fit again. But Frank is unlikely to bring CD back this soon. We will be the underdogs for this having only won once against Sheffield Utd in our last six home games. But amazingly Sheffield have lost their last five league meetings with The Mighty Rams in the month of October......suck on that Carl Hooper......

So, late K/O, half five and on the tv (already said that). Hope springs eternal, one week to half term and nicely poised for the play-offs.

*RAISING THE BAR*

Which would you rather be - an unhappy human being or a happy dog?

Vidal, to redeem himself, Bogle produced a defence-splitting pass for Lawrence in the second half

I do try and see the positives

Indeed he did Ang, and he's been terrific for his age and experience. He was curiously tentative first half, seemed scared to pass or run forward. Maybe he was under instructions not to over-commit.

I was going to mention on Ramdini's "For those" thread - which is excellent by the way, and I do recommend a visit....that something remarkable was unfolding on the Match thread.

Yes! Not a single negative comment about our esteemed Captain.

Mind you, 666 will be on his long Sunday run and I assume that Scouse won't be released until Monday morning......

I heard that.

The quality of post-match discussion on this week's thread has been as fine as I can remember - quality content and Wildean wit.
Maybe the break? Whatever, thank you xx

MistaKeogh was a mess. Watch again as Fleck waltzed by him unchallenged for their assist. I can only assume Keogh has decided that, rather than tackle, he’ll try to put the oppo off by imitating Bruce Grobbelar’s ‘crazy legs’ penalty antics.

Great to see the captain back yesterday, hopefully for good, and at the expense of the googly-eyed plastic paddy.

Remember: hold #CB4’s calf in your thoughts and prayers.

I hope we do not go for the 3 at the back which is mainly used by teams in a right old mess. It usually ends up with 5 at the back and the 3 centre halves leaving tackles to one another. Then you end up short of players in midfield. The only way to play 5 at the back is to have 12 players in the team.

I like 4-3-3 and I just wish we had Will and Chrissie to add to our young stars.

I agree with whoever said that Tomori could go to right back if Curtiss comes back. Perhaps Bogle could do with a spell out of the team.

I'm feeling optimistic about the rest of the season, I think now Marriot is firing on all cylinders we will get more goals. I do not like Waghorn on the wing, Bennett would do better at right wing than him.

VC, it was me, and I agree with you about a back three. It was reasonable at the death yesterday because Sheff United had 3 centre forwards on the pitch and Davies gave us an extra body to defend set pieces. But not as a starting ploy when we haven’t done it before. If we are going to vary it I would rather it be an occasional 4-4-2.

666, you are a berk, but then you knew that.
