My kids, all 4 of em, thankfully show a far greater level of social awareness, intelligence and tolerance than my generation, and certainly more than my folks.

This is a good thing.

Howdy bluebells

We will always have extremes it’s the best of things

The majority from my old mans era never met a gay or black person
They never saw handicapped folk who were all hiden away

Our kids get far more exposure and take the positive view
Prejudice of all sorts is on the way out

But yes extremes will still exist and need addressed

Great post Duke...

and meant to reply ear!lier but work and fighting on the election thread got me busy😀

Totally true about our partents and grandparents not meeting, knowingly, gay people...and people of colour.

My parents are old school,,and my late father told me to remember I am Ulster Protestant first and foremost...he refused to meet my gay brothers Dublin partner and he was quite racist at times.
My mum is a wee quiet woman, but basically hates Catholics and Sinn Fein, and is also quite racist.

I am surprised I turned out so liberal and balanced.

Growing up as a teenager I thought it was Linfield and Rangers games that made me superprod, but it was closer to home in hindsight?😁

Being married to a Catholic shocked many friend and family, but inside I am just a human being, pretending to navigate through each day.

The young ones have better times and more tolerance to enjoy, as long as the extremists in all po!itical identity tribes leave them be👍

My dad hates puffs to a suspicious amount, frankly.

‘Cup of tea, Dad?’
‘Yes please. But I hate bumming!’

Hmm.
