After carefully watching Barkley against Crystal palace, I noticed how he misplaced a few passes, gave away possession and also seemed quite laborious in possession without any form of creativity and imagination in attack.
He seemed quite uncomfortable to receive the ball, in contrast to Kovacic who made himself available, and also dictated the tempo of the game when he was later introduced.
It got me thinking...was Sarri quick to jump to conclusions about Barkley being a complete player?
To be honest with you guys, Barkley's performance against Crystal Palace was nothing to write home about,
Yes, players have some bad days, but during those bad days, you would still see glimpses of why they're very good players.
In my humble opinion, I strongly feel RLC will do a better job than Barkley in our midfield three.
Barkley's shortcoming also highlights the importance of signing Kovacic on a permanent deal!
Is Barkley really a complete player?

Yes Ross Barkley is class.Similarly,Ruben Loftus Cheeks should be starting more matchea as he has got more to his overall atracking game than Willian who oddly starts many Chelsea despite being recently poor.

Unfair to judge Barkley with Palace game. He had a terrible match day.

There have been multiple matches this season he loses possession easily, in no pressure situations too, bit strange for a player of his capability. I think he will almost naturally be inconsistent by virtue of his game - he takes shots, he takes players on, forward passes. When it all comes off he looks great but when not poor. If he ever gets that consistency he’ll be a top player (added with stopping losing possession easily but I reckon that is easily rectified by coaching)

Ross had a couple of good games, let's not get carried away.
Kovacic is class but lacks goals, that's hopefully when RLC and ROss step up

Kova vs Barkley is an interesting one. Kova is just a better footballer (to be general) but Barkley does have things over Kova that are strongly in his favour, ability to shoot from distance, get in the box and create chances. In our last game against Palace we clearly missed Kova but some games Kova starts and I kinda wish we had Barkley’s penetration. I don’t know what type of games either player suits
I would actually like to see both start in ‘small’ games over Kante. I can buy the ‘we need Kante for his defensive work/energy/tackling etc.’ in big games but in small games when we dominate possession easily I think there’s a case for having Barkley and Kova start. This is a bit mute though as Sarri sees Kante as close to Jorginho in importance.

I wouldn't say Sarri jumped into conclusion but based Barkley's selection on training performance. I have heard a number of Chelsea players say Barkely has been the best performer in training so far this season.

Kunta Kante I think that RLC needs to start more especially against the teams lower in the table.I like Barkley and Kante as a partnership but I want Kante to assume his previous role as a defensive midfielder under Conte.We should also have Kovacic playing with Barkley with RLC replacing either of these two in matches if one of them is not playing well.Come on Sarri.Also Emerson needs to start more matches at times to see what he can do as an alternative choice to Marcos Alonso.BTW I like Alonso.
