started for either Chelsea or Arsenal today. Surely it cannot be right that 22 players are all foreign, playing in the English Prem League.
Something surely has to be done about the total takeover of the game by overseas players. Yes, I know some are good, but it cannot be good if young English players are never given a chance.
Luckily with Poch, Spurs have a great manager, who believes in playing English players, where possible, Skipp, Trippier, Rose, Kane, Ali, etc all starting yesterday, add in Davies a Welsh player, and you can see Spurs are still trying to uphold the great traditions of British football.
I find it very sad really that it has come to this, but not sure how it will change, unless rules are brought in by the Prem League bosses, on quotas being made to start every game.
Shamefully, not one English player

Good article Sandy mate. Is crazy tbh, where spurs struggle to make whatever quota compared to these teams despite fielding 3 or 4 English players each week. Strange ruling system as far as that is concerned.
Spurs have far better English players than both of these sides I suppose but needs to be addressed

Sandy,
Same with me, as most other Spurs fans know, I am extremely reasonable with my comments, but ledders obviously took a dislike to me, for whatever reason.
So off to filterland for him👻

I know it is a complete joke that Sprus should be struggling, when other teams are fielding no players in the Prem. Complete and utter nonsense. Not sure who makes the rules, bit like the FFP.

The percentage of English players starting Premier League games is dropping every season. A few years ago it was 33% which was bad enough, this season it is 25%.
I don't think it is a lack of homegrown talent, it is a lack of opportunities for homegrown players. The sums of money involved in the PL and the pressure managers are under is so great that few of them are prepared to risk a young, unproven English player when they have a squad full of seasoned internationals from all around the world.
It shows what a good job Southgate is doing when there are so few top English players regularly playing Premier League football.

Technically Alex Iwobi is English though as he has been here since he was 4 and he did play for England under 18's but has opted to play for Nigeria.

You have to partially blame the English players themselves who would rather sit on the bench or reserves earning millions and going out than competing for a spot.
Look at how great Jadon Sancho has been for Dortmund. English players are too comfortable in their lifestyles. Even Tom Ince turned down Inter Milan for Derby or Huddersfield (whoever it was) at the time.

To be fair plenty of foreign players are quite happy just sitting on the bench as well.

But nobody in country X is complaining about their players not starting in country Y..
