Judge him against the big teams

Firstly, I'm not a United fan - in fact I facking hate United with a passion.

Now that's out of the way...

I've seen a lot of quotes along the lines of "you can't judge OGS on games against Cardiff, it's how he does against the big clubs that matters" (from both United and opposition supporters)

Yes you can't judge a manager on one game against a very poor side but I wouldn't judge him by his performances against top sides either - certainly not this season.

To win against the top teams everyone has got to be singing from the same hymn sheet, that doesn't usually happen in the first 6 months of management. Not consistently anyway.

If under his management United play with intensity, flooding forward and passing quickly then that's already an improvement on the years since Fergie left.

Doubt this will be a popular opinion but even in Fergie's final season I thought the football served up was largely turgid, it was an absolute colossus of football dragging a fairly unspectacular set of players to a championship and that isn't the way forward for you in my opinion.

As most agree you don't just need a manager, you need a new set up at the top with a long term vision. But for now if OGS can bring back some style and importantly some happiness to the squad as well as the fans then he should be judged on that.

Long term he's almost certainly not going to be your next manager but his tenure should be judged on far more than just results.

nani had everything but consistency, some games he was another level, could beat anyone, inch perfect crosses, fierce shots with either foot, worked his backside off but he was beyond frustrating when everything he tried failed.

You are correct OP.

When Klopp joined us it was some months into the season and he masterminded some wins against some big teams, some amazing results away from home, however, Liverpool still finished 8th that season.

I think there is a chance United don't get the manager they want and decide to stick with OGS. If he does well, the case will certainly be made for him to be given the job.

OGS has really shown up the malaise that Mourinho has Utd caught up in. It makes you wonder how such a talented and successful manager could be so poor.

Like Hodgson at Liverpool he couldn’t get his head around the fact that the fans don’t want to see dour football.

it's a pity for Nani we got some terrible managers post Fergie. He along with Rafael and Evans should never have been sold.

Unfortunately for nani, he was always compared with Ronaldo and his diving and play acting didnt help.

Always rated him, absolute top class player. His own talent was the reason he was slated so often because he didnt always play as well as we know he could but he was still better than anything we have at the moment anyway.
