Emery just a "YES" man?

We finished 6th last season and trophy less. Wenger was removed and we then spent a while searching for a new manager. Obviously we were very close to having Arteta as the new manager but stories suggested that he wasn't happy with the £50M budget which was what was touted around at the time.

Now would have a manager like Guardiola or Alegri taken the post knowing that all that was on offer would have been between £50-£60M for the summer and Zero money for January even though we were slowly drifting further and further away from our competitors?

I'm concerned that Emery is the kind of the guy that isn't going to challenge the establishment and demand more from the owners and accept this self sustainable out dated model that hasn't worked for 10 years.

Last season team on paper is stronger than this one and our away form is starting to resemble last seasons horror show.

Hopefully I am wrong but this season is starting to slowly disintegrate into a shower of sheet and I really hope Emery is more aggressive with our owners because the football and quality we currently have is unacceptable

You need to go back to basics IMHO.
Get the youth policy sorted out. Build from the bottom up. Get a decent scouting team in place and look for value throughout Europe. You don’t need (although might want) marquee £70M+ signings

You need understated 3 x £25M signings in key areas. There you go - my hap’ney worth 👍

Those days are gone. City, Chelsea, Pool and Man U are busy buying big. Relying on academy players is a sure way to get relegated. After all, right now there is no youth player ready to play regularly at Arsenal, esp against the big guns, and esp in our weakest positions. Our best bet is getting contract rebels on the cheap.

Pep bought a few players around the 25 mil. Like Jesus. Scouting is key.

True, you gotta taken your chances and listen to your scouts. Salah to Pool was a masterstroke. We had a huge chance of signing Van Dijk when he was desperate to leave Celtic and was clearly their best player, yet only Southampton saw the quality in him and we didn't, and Wenger couldn't be bothered, he was happy with Mertesacker.

Maybe it's as simple as Arsenal time as one of the top teams is up, it's all cyclical at the end of the day. Spurs went through the 90's and noughties like this,
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And the 80s, 70s, most of the 60s, most of the 50s, the 40s, the 30s, the 20s, the 10s...

Its about players ultimately and Im not sure Arsenals are very good in the main. I dont think the book value of the squad is particularly high either. If you look at the more expensive signings in Auba, Laca, Ozil, Xhaka and Mustafi for example would they go for what they were bought for? Im not sure even in this inflated market.

You can make loads from the odd astute signing. Obviously Coutunho has gone for big money but how much would the likes of Robertson, Gomez, Firmino, Alli and Eriksen go for.

Managers get too much stick when things go wrong and too much praise when thungs go well.

Its the recruitment that is the problem imo.

Just remind me which club has the most European trophies?

Joking aside until the the mid 80's Spurs and Arsenal were very similar, Spurs went one way and Arsenal went a better way. Things do look like they are changing though, I go into every NLD expecting Spurs to win at the moment and at no point did I think you would finish within 10 points of us this season.

You're only 11 league titles behind lad, you might catch up if we have a 50 year drought.. or maybe not.

Which club do you think will win the Champions League first, Arsenal or Tottenham?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bournemouth will win it before either of them

Tbh, that's what we're trying to do. Trouble with this is it takes time to develop and to come to fruition. That means it'll get worse for us before it gets better
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Welcome to Spurs 👍
----------------------------------------------------------------------
When Arsenal built the Emirates they promised that was the key to built a team that could compete in the CL. A longterm future investment.

What they havent consider that Football changed completely into a money making machine for players due to the Bosman rule and due to the oil money that was brought into Football.

What I demand from our club is to do both. To develop talent and to put money into the club to compete what was promised.

Emery is a yes man just like Wenger was,his goal is to try to get us back in top 4 that's it,if he doesn't it doesn't matter we are still making millions per week for Kronke so it's all good
