Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær told Sky Sports: "Results wise, to come away here and beat Tottenham is fantastic. We hung on in the second half and we never got to grips with it when they changed the system, but you are allowed to have a good goalkeeper.

"When you have the pace of Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford, and the cleverness of Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard, the plan was to attack with pace. Marcus took his goal brilliantly and the pass from Paul was half of the goal.

"We have seen Spurs play and we thought that would be the right plan and it's good we have different plans for different teams. I thought we showed we were here to compete, in particular, the first half."

On David de Gea's performance: "Fantastic. Obviously when you make 11 saves it is a top performance, but even so, two of them were top saves but the rest you would expect David to make. We defended well as a team and when you play against Harry Kane you are always going to be tested. It was just a complete team performance.

Talking to BBC
"I know why I am here and I know what my job description is, and I'm doing what I can to help the team. We expect to win every game at Man United."

"We could have scored a few as well but we had a good back four and David de Gea in behind them was unbelievable.

"When you have pace up front and Jesse Lingard is so clever in between the lines the goal was great - it was something we worked on.

"We created enough chances to put the game away on the break, but if you don't score you will be under pressure. We defended fantastically.

"De Gea - he should have held a couple! I've played with a few fantatsic goalkeepers, we have a tradition of having them and he has grown and grown, he deserves that man of the match today.

"You expect to win every single game at Man United. You won't, but you must go in thinking that. Thet's the mentality of this group."

second half we couldve scored 3 or 4 our selves

Spurs still on for the undrawables in the league Both teams I thought were poor in passing and finishing. Man Utd should have 3 or 4 easy goals today.

Solskjær: "Giuseppe [Rossi] scored a fantastic goal in training yesterday! The gaffer [Sir Alex] turned around and said 'What about that, son!' He's just with us until he finds a club."

He seems like an intelligent football man as well. One of the few out there.
A far cry from the absolute garbage that comes out of the mouths of the likes of Sam Allardyce and Jamie Caaragher

Did Sky show anything from Ole? I realised I'd left my footy boots outside in the reckon garden after I cleaned them earlier so missed some of the chat after the game.

I left some boots out overnight once. Next morning, covered in slugs. Couldn't wear them after that.

I love the way he actually answers questions, rather than giving stock responses.

I liked Sarri for that on MOTD

Jonathan Pearce mentioned Morata being injured and Sarri basically said he's not injured I just didn't want to play him...love it

Mine were outside from the 2nd Sunday of December until last weekend when we had our first game back since Christmas

That was a brilliant interview. Ole really has impressed me. He made sure to mention all of the players in a positive manner and not to take credit for himself. He's the antithesis of Jose in so many ways, and we need that. Please give Ole a permanent job and same with Mike Phelan.
