Leeds Utd v Stoke City Matchday Thread

Welcome to the Matchday Thread and a trip down to the potteries for the Travelling Faithful
Obviously MB will have done his homework on the opposition and the Lads will be fired up enough to try and replicate the first game of the season

Plans afoot for a Tribute on 6 minutes for brave little Toby Nye RIP

Team News
Leeds United have already named the Team for this game and barring any late issues the Line up will be...………….
Bailey Peacock-Farrell, Luke Ayling, Pontus Jansson Liam Cooper, Ezgjan Alioski, Adam Forshaw, Mateusz Klich, Pablo Hernandez, Jack Clarke, Kemar Roofe and Jack Harrison.

Stoke City
Butland will, of course, remain between the sticks and in front of him a very reliable back four, on paper anyway.
Erik Pieters, Ashley Williams and Ryan Shawcross will all continue after the Brentford clash with Moritz Bauer likely to come in for Tom Edwards at right-back.
Expect Jones to persist with his midfield diamond and to keep things the same with the impressive Ryan Woods at the base, Sam Clucas and Joe Allen on either side with Tom Ince feeding the attack at the top.
Stoke may have lost in midweek, but Tyreese Campbell was thoroughly impressive, bagging both of the Potters goals so he will most likely be given another chance to impress alongside Benik Afobe.

Match Facts
This is the first league meeting between Stoke and Leeds at the bet365 Stadium since December 2006, when the Potters won 3-1.
Leeds are looking to complete a league double over Stoke for the first time since the 1988-89 season.
Stoke striker Benik Afobe has scored in his last four Championship appearances against Leeds, scoring once in each match - however, he is yet to end on the winning side this season when scoring for the Potters (W0 D4 L2).
Leeds have had more possession than their opponents in 26 of their 27 Championship matches under Marcelo Bielsa - the other match was their 1-0 win over Sheffield United in December (44.2% possession).
Against Brentford in Nathan Jones' first game in charge, Stoke had just two shots - the joint-fewest attempted by any team in a Championship match this season.
Leeds have won 16 Championship matches this season - just one fewer than they managed in the entirety of last season (17).

One more Win to equal last seasons total … Getttttttttt Innnnnnnnn

So Nathan Jones looking to get a win in his 1st Home game after going down to a Shrewsbury comeback in the FA Cup, I've a feeling we might be able to disappoint him on that
0-3 Scoreline for me with Pablo, Klich and Roofey to get the Goals, maybe i'm a bit optimistic but i'll stick with my prediction

Over to You...…………………….Predictions etc...………………….

Come Onnnnnnnnnnnnnnn Leeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeds!!!

Stoke were useless until we gifted them a goal. The sending off was a result of chasing the game with a high line.
Not saying we were great, because we were not, we were poor and full of mistakes.
Rotherham at home are no joke! January needs addressing by Radz because we have no punch off the bench and no plan B against anti football teams.

Rotherham just got stuffed at home 4-2 by Brentford.

We should expect 3 points there. Nothing less.

No disrespect though. Derbies are always tough.

Who do we play instead of Pontus in the next game?

Until he gets sent off again...

Appeal? Apparently Jansson slipped and was wrongfully sent off?

Cannot appeal as was second yellow.

Stoke away is historically a bogey fixture, I remember losing 6-2 in the 80's and the following season 7-2 and not forgetting Stoke ended our record breaking start to the championship winning 73/74 season beating us 3-2.

We kept putting high crosses into the box and their centre halves were winning every duel. Roofe is a good header of the ball but he had no chance against their 3 centre halves. It is a worry as some on here have already said that we can be unplayable last week and so flat and full of mistakes this week.

Don’t think we were flat - just they had a plan to defend in numbers which we struggled to break down.

Sometimes I think we need to sit back a bit and make this type of opposition come out. They are at home after all.

Constantly attacking is great to watch but has cost us points at times as we are too committed.
