Forest V Wigan Athletic

Gate: 28848

Wigan have lost 11 away games in a row and after a surprising 3-0 win at home to Aston Villa on the 12th Jan, then slumped to a 1-0 loss away to the Wendies. Wednesday were playing for a caretaker manager before [ yes you did guess didn't you?] the larger than life Steve Bruce rolls into town next month.

They have a number of injury concerns, plus Will Grigg is both injured and subject to a bid from Sunderland.

Their form over the last 5 games mirrors our own.

So what does MON have in store for tomorrow? at the very least a team that looks like it can play together and pass to one another hopefully.

Michael Hefele is out for the remainder of the season and Michael Doorson* for six weeks.
We only have two fit centre halves and it looks like Fox is unlikely to play due to Wigan's attempts to sign him. Darikwa is suspended for his second of three. That means that Robinson is likely to start at C/H with Osborn at L/B. Yacob didn't look too happy at C/H against Reading.
Lewis Grabban is also carrying a knock so possibly may not start? That would be a pity as we badly need an on form Grabban teaming up with Carvalho and possibly Osborn to create some midfield movement & energy.

I would leave Joe Lolley on the bench as his form has nose dived in the past few weeks.

I suspect that who ever scores first tomorrow will win so that had better be us then.

Good luck to Danny Fox up at Wigan. Sensible move for him at this stage of his career as it was unlikely that he would be offered much by Forest. Got to hope MoN has some other centre half targets lined up as they are looking threadbare. Surely wouldn’t agree to this sale if they didn’t?!

Happy with the performance. Grabban on the bench keeps him keen. Showed when he came on as sub by all accounts. Carvalho is a bit of a puzzle at the moment. Maybe away at Brum will provide an opportunity for him.

You’d think so wouldn’t you? As much as I don’t rate Fox, he isn’t terrible and has massively improved over years so if we aren’t going to buy someone then we need to keep him. I suppose if Figs will be back within a couple of weeks then we can just about cope.

Vital to win today, so 3 cracking goals will do!

Shocked to come home and find so much abuse for MON on other Forest sites, probably from people too young to realise how iconic he is here.

I'd back him to instil a Clough-like philosophy of pulling together on the pitch and making the most of what we have. And playing good football - at present he's dealing with a CB crisis so I wouldn't even begin to start judging style of play.

I find it pathetic that alleged fans write him off as a dinosaur on the back of a 3-1 win.

Problem is that the media gave a lot of air time to some negative views on MoN’s appointment. It then becomes “trendy” to ape these views regardless of the reality, which is that Forest had a pretty decent 3-1 victory today. Some fans are more concerned with their social media profiles and place in the tw@tter pecking order than giving credit where credit is due and really supporting their club.

Big and brave team selection by MON yesterday, but fair play to him he knew what he was doing.

Like most at the match I was very surprised and worried when I heard the line up. Very good performance from Watson to be fair and I will be happy for him and Yacob to pair up in Colback's absence next week.

We still have a bit to do to threaten the top six - win another ten from 17. Probably a bit too much. I'll be gutted if the two points we were robbed of at Leeds makes the difference. Didn't someone once say that anything they won they won by cheating?

That was probably a statement attributed to B.C on the back pages of one of the red tops. There was no love lost between Clough & Revie.

January always sorts out the top six, but the good thing about the playoffs is it keeps every body on their toes all the way down to midtable.

I think of MoN could pull a couple of rabbits out of the hat to bolster the squad and also get Keane to sign up as his assistant then they could build some momentum and have a really good go at catching the top six. Ultimatelt, if they don’t, it would still go down as the club’s best performance in the league for several years.

I think a lot of those drawn games will have a great bearing on where the Red’s end up. Still haven’t lost that many games compared to most and goal difference is pretty comparable to most as well.Blackburn are a place ahead but have a significantly worse goal difference than Forest so it could work in the Red’s favour.
