Messi

As our Leeds board is full of master debaters, I'm going to put it to you lot.

I had a very heated debate in the office this morning regarding Messi, and if he could do what he does for Barca at another team in a different country.

Could Messi join Arsenal for example and make them into title winners?

Could he join Man City / Liverpool and still score 50 goals a season?

Messi is the best player I've ever seen, on TV, never watched him live....10 years ago he could have made any team in any country champions providing he had decent players around him, to support him, which he had in abundance at Barcelona...note in World Cups he wasn't seen at his best, club teams and international teams don't have much in common, players have different mentalities for both.

----------

NJS... do you think he could of done what Maradona did at Napoli? - taking an average team, to title winners?

You mention Maradona, the 2nd best player I've seen, both Argentinians!
Yes I think so but the stars have to align, to coin a phrase, by that I mean Maradona had the support of the fanatical Napoli fans, so the atmosphere at games was inspirational and very loud! This no doubt inspired Maradona and his team mates for a couple of seasons, but he didn't leave any worthwhile legacy and Napoli drifted back to average Italian status.

IMAGINE if Messi went to Napoli to lead them to Serie A triumph next season over Ronaldo's Juventus.

Only mildly realistic if Pep went to Napoli and took some top players with him.

Ps...I remember when England played Italy in an International in Naples, think it was in the 80s, could be wrong....the crowd were very intimidating to England, very passionate, we lost 2 - 0.
"See Naples and die" was a popular phrase at the time

Would he score 50 goals? No because the league is tougher.

Would he take the mick and make it look easy? Yes 100%.

Makes me laugh when people say could he do it in another country when he's scored goals for fun every season in the CL.

He would destroy defences in the premier league.

there is no proof he would destroy anyone in the pl.
played his whole career on a stacked team in a weaker league.

You talk about proof then contradict yourself, where is the proof that Spain is a weaker league, Champions League results over the years would confirm it's a strong competition?
