Klopp vs Pep - Who is feeling the pressure?

Two excellent managers going head to head for the PL title.

But who is under the most pressure, would you say?

Pep

Current champions and almost certainly going to end up with at least one cup this year, whatever happens in the league. Revered as the world's best coach and City fans love him.

But... spends a lot of money to be where they are and failure this year would mean failure to win back to back titles, which is generally regarded as a key part of 'greatness' in the PL. If he doesn't win the CL this year and fails in the league, is that a big mark against his name?

Klopp

Underdogs in terms of spend and did a wonderful job in the CL last year. Playing attractive football and taken Liverpool to heights they have not seen for a good while.

But... the club is crying out for trophies and have invested in their man. If they fail this year, will they get another chance as good as this? Possibly, possibly not. But would failure be a major issue for him?

Clearly neither are in any danger of losing their jobs having worked wonders at their respective clubs, but as we get to the business end of the season this is when the pressure starts to pile on.

Who do you think is under most pressure and who do you think will handle it the best?

Possibly, although if United get their next appointment right then you'll have another obstacle I would say - given the level of investment at United.

Yeah I don't doubt that. Although it might take them another couple of seasons to mount a serious challenge.

Whether you are or not remains to be seen. It wouldn’t be unheard of for Liverpool to fall off, especially when compared with City, so I stand by the point with regard to the pressure on the respective coaches.

they are both under pressure. if they both get 90 plus then fair play. I don't think Klopp is handling dropped points well tho he seems to have an excuse for it every time.
sometimes you just have to say fair play and move on to the next game. he cant seem to do that.

I’m not so sure. Our squad is actually pretty decent - it just looked sheite under Jose.

Needs some work though of course.

It has happened previously, but our team and squad is much more complete than on previous occasions and we are improving under Klopp season on season, and addressing the weaknesses in our squad.

lets be honest Klopp doesn't need to do it... the media love him and are desperate for him to win it. any other manager would get hammered for what he is doing after every dropped points.

Both are probably feeling the pressure.

I would say Pep is feeling it more than Klopp at the moment though.

City are still in 4 competitions. Which creates high expectations and it's highly unlikely that City will end the season winning all four. So there will most probably be disappointment for City in the coming months.

At this present time, City are in a position to win all four. They could also end up winning nothing. That's why I feel Pep is under more pressure. Simply put, there is more at stake for him. Klopp on the other hand doesn't have two domestic cup competitions to contend at all. He can focus on the league and the CL (probably more so the league this season). I think everyone connected to Liverpool wants the league more than anything else this season, so in one sense, Liverpool's CL campaign could well be described as a welcome distraction.

In the league, City may be top, but Liverpool have a game in hand. And Liverpool's consistency in the league this season has been excellent. So far, their "blip" has consisted of two drawn games in succession. City's "blip" has consisted of two defeats in succession.

What is fascinating to me in regards to the league is that both could end the season with a points haul well into the 90s. I don't think that's been achieved before - that is, two teams finishing a season with 90+ points. Both could end up with a points haul that would have comprehensively won the league in the vast majority of past seasons. So if that happens, then whichever one does end up losing out, both will come out of this season with no negative mark against their name.
