Sunday was the first time I’ve genuinely felt sorry for Sarri. It was completely unprofessional by Kepa and it potentially (we’ll never know for sure) cost us the penalty shoot out.
But to openly defy (whatever his reasons were) your Manager was disrespectful and the player deserves his fine.
That said I hope the club and the fans move on and don’t make any potential bad feelings vocal. The last thing the club needs is a £70m goalkeeper getting his confidence shot to pieces by our own fans.
As it is I think he’s going to come under heavy scrutiny over at least the next month and every little error (if selected) is going to be picked up on. And if he’s not selected that is going to be…………discussed.
I just hope now Sarri does not go back to what I consider ‘suicidal’ tactics and shows he is prepared to adapt a little when things aren’t going his way on the pitch.
The FA Cup match just about tipped my patience over the edge with him, especially with last substitution. But the League Cup Final? That was much better, subs included. Now I think he cannot afford to go back to 100% “Sarriball."
There is a chance he could get even the fans who were quite vocal against him in the Cup back on side.
Remember Ranieri? A lot of our fans would deny doing it now, but for quite some time our fans did sing to him You don’t know what you’re doing
That’s not media lies, I was there and witnessed it first hand. It’s fair to say he won over the fans, as was evident in his last 2 seasons at the club. I now find myself praying Sarri can achieve that. But he’s gotta earn it
I agree with Ronny re Kepa.....

Where's old Tibo you ask? In Madrid breaking all sorts of records

Nah you're being harsh Nick. He's a reliable keeper with the odd high profile mistake. If there was one major criticism I'd have of him it's he relies too much on his quality handling. The Alonso/Wembley goal is a great example, nine times out of ten he'll bury that in his stomach where most keepers would push it out for a corner.

The fact is KK that maybe the on pitch Medics are partly responsible for this situation. Remember that Kepa spent several minutes on his back being attended to, unaware of the medic to bench communications.
If he had not been injured in the action previously then nothing would have happened. Its up to the player, especially the stopper, to say if he can continue or not.
So was it a change of mind on his part or did the medics signal change required without asking Kepa? That needs to be sorted.

Agree with this. The strange thing is Sarri’s reaction which is either a) a man under under pressure venting at a difficult moment or b) a man angry because it was a tactical change. We’ll never know which it was. If it’s the second one then Kepa is bang out of line if it’s the first one then Sarri overacted massively.
The media storm has been an absolute embarrassment though. Saw Ian Wright describe it as ‘mutuny’ Etc. Absolute rubbish. It’s people buying into the player power narrative based on what has happened in the past to supposedly AVB and Jose (and something Kepa has nothing to do with as he’s only just arrived).
If we’d have won the shootout, the whole situation would have been viewed completely differently.

Lloris is probably 5th or 6th best in the league.
Ddg
Ederson
Alison
Kepa
Maybe pope and heaton
And maybe a few others, are ahead for me.
Even Pickford makes less mistakes yet is seen as crap to some
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Lloris does make mistakes, but he still a very decent goalie. Better than both Kepa and Alison by quite a distance.

Kepa was not to blame!Sarri needs to be blamed for hus rigid player selections and playing only one formation.

Course he has easily his worst game of the season after me praising him. He does tend to have stinkers against us, particularly at SB.
Ah well, I ain't complaining
