Saiz

Another game passes where we missed a player who can take a player on and run with the ball. Happened time and time again since he left.

Was discussing the transfer window with my old man and how costly it’s potentially going to prove.

Which got me thinking...

How thick do you have to be to let one of your star players leave, in the middle of a promotion push, and then NOT replace them. It’s a much discussed topic, but it has to be the worst piece of business Leeds have done for years. And that takes some doing.

Kamara...are you on this planet?

The club had ever since Saiz left time to do something in the market, in terms of identification and even making offers for players.

They waited unitl the end of the window to make a move for a player that was not a replacement.

How is the above not conducive to a major example of ineptness?

Mike we obviously see things differently. Never said he was a direct replacement for Saiz fella.

Don't get all this Saiz carp anyway. He proved to be a dud in the end so was dropped then got stroppy & moved on.

Mike he was a replacement. Bielsa said so himself.

The plan was to replace Saiz by moving Pablo to the 10 role from right wing. And James taking that position. A lot on here saying Pablo needs to play in the 10 role and I agree. Not sure what is wrong with that plan?

We had 31 days to sign James, not just 24 hours on deadline day. We have ourselves to blame. O'Dowda was our second choice target, should have considered signing him half way through the month if we were struggling to sign James.

It should of been a piece of cake bringing in quality in Jan

Top Of the league
One of the best coaches in the world

I mean, it should have been REALLY easy.

Why didn't we sign Luke Freeman or someone like him playing for a struggling team or even L1's best attacking midfielder Maddison from Posh?

Why haven't we recalled Malik Wilks from donny?

Harrogate, I want to buy a Jag, costs 7k. I call the guy, ask him about the car, strike up some rapport etc. Then I offer him 2k because I haven't got 7k.

He quite rightly ignores me or tells me to eff off.

It's hardly his fault.

It all smacks of us not having any money. No problem with that (well actually I do, a club pulling in our revenues should have money), but find a more appropriate player rather than chancing it like that.....and don't just look at one in case it falls through IF you really want promotion.

Not saying that AR doesn't want promotion, but saying that I just don't think he gets how it works.

I blame the James transfer on no one but Leeds. Should have had the deal done well before.

Not sure they were trying to do some big last minute drama marketing thing or what, but we royally fooked it.

Speaking of how it works, who on this board was actually involved in the Dan James deal?

Ok then, perhaps it did not play out as everyone thinks they know it did.

Perhaps the deal was agreed to earlier in January. Perhaps Swansea stipulated they needed to keep it quiet until deadline day and perhaps they were waiting to see who they sold and decided to keep James as a last sale “if we absolutely must.”

I am not happy it did not work out, but many are quick to critique with 20/20 but without actually knowing the facts!

Rant over....

The James deal we proposed was laughable.

On loan for half a season, potentially subject to a permanent transfer, potentially returning back to Swansea.

The loan fee was proposed to be paid at the END of the season.

Factor in that Swansea had lost several players already. Would that really represent a good deal for them?

We wanted one of their best players for nothing. Was a garbage deal for them and they exercised their right to keep their own player.

Idiotic from Leeds.

NO, that's just making excuses for club.

The facts are there to see. We failed to bring him in and ran out of time, literally. Swansea had a part to play, but we left it too late.
