The world is in a right old mess

Do you ever have some days when you think; this world is fecked - what really is the point?

I have a little one on the way this year and I do seriously worry about what a mess he is going to grow up in.

There are probably a few areas you'd break this down into:

People / lack of respect

I don't know about you, but where I live you really do notice a change in the way that people treat each other.

I live in an area not far from London and the more people that move out of London into the area, the worse it gets. Most people with kids are selling up to move further out to find somewhere nicer. It's like the crap part of society is just spreading further and further out of London.

Sometimes it's simple stuff like how people park their cars, the volume of their music and manners; other times it is more serious - stabbings, gang culture, schooling, but the general feeling I get is of a society that gives very little about the people around them.

Have things gotten worse, or is it just me?

Environment / Global Warming

A massive issue and one that we're not even close to solving.

The odd protest march means diddly squat when we as a race are so lazy and greedy.

The volume of meat we eat, the amount we use our cars, the consumption of cheap goods and the 'if it's broke just buy another one' culture is sickening and it's still heading in the wrong direction.

Where does this end? How many years/centuries until the planet can't cope and there is a real, permanent disaster?

War

How can it be that the human race has existed for so long yet not understood the futility of war?

Why are some people so wedded to nationalism?

Has history taught us nothing?

Equality

So after some degree of success with a capitalist society, we're now seeing a growing divide between the rich and the poor.

Social mobility is largely a myth.

Billionaires have a huge say in the running of countries and think that society should be grateful for the fact that they're giving a low skilled, low paid job to someone so that they can just about afford to eat for the week.

Buying property for the majority is becoming a pipe dream.

So there's a nice cheery message for a Monday.

Is the world fecked or am I just being a miserable get?

The media makes things out to be a lot worse than they are

Climate fear
----------------------------------------------------------------------

You reckon?

Take a trip to Iceland or somewhere similar. Lovely holiday but you’ll also get a sense for climate change.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm not talking about "climate change" when I say climate fear, I'm talking about the climate of fear the media create, it affects how we vote, how we spend, how we live our lives basically
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh I see, sorry!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I have a fear the climate won't be warm enough in summer....

I mean we have to host the cricket world cup and allsorts

Also if you force yourself to smile it actually releases endorphins and makes you feel happy, resulting in a real smile. Which in turn makes other people feel happy. This then increases your happiness.

On a side note, you may have no idea how your actions, no matter how minor either way, can have an affect on someone else. You may be the only person someone interacts with in weeks, especially in an aging society. So be nice to people. A small act of kindness goes a long way 😀

The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men do nothing.

Edmund Burke.

Do we as a world have leaders to accomplish this in this day and age?

I fear not, it's all about economics, self preservation and no matter what they will be shielded from the crap that hits the fan whilst the ordainary citizen suffer.

Although I love my kids to bits, having 2 at 10 and 7 I have a tinge of guilt bringing them in this world with me now 53.

Yup, it's totally facked.
The sooner our Earth is rid of the human race the sooner it will be a better place.

Greatteamswinit4times- a terrible enemy (U6008)

Melting glaciers.

We were shown photos from 10 years ago, same time of year, where you could have comfortably walked across the frozen surface... they're now just water.

Temporary buildings, roads etc. have had to be moved because it.

It was quite shocking and that is probably just the tip of the iceberg (pun intended).
