Sky being Sky again....accused of racism

https://twitter.com/markrikko/status/1111218370496614405

This no mark never even played at Elland Road and spent the majority of his career at Millwall of all clubs.

Hopefully we demand an apology off Sky for this. S kum

As a man of chocolate, who grew up in 89s Leeds, with the national front at games etc. Racism is largely a thing of the past in terms of the socially normal Alf Garnett day and age.

In 30 Yeats I've heard 2 instances of racism a guy with special needs yelling at Uriah Rene and some old boy at the Brum game a couple of years back.

The PC briggade (lefty white folk) gave brainwashed non whites into NOT taking context into the equation. I tell all my mates, that banter is banter and racism is racism. Racial banter is funny! It's Imo a way to ease facial tensions and bring folk closer.

Sol Campbell and his ilk are Imo double agents who want to keep racism alive in order to keep their relevance up...could go on but...

------

Mike, I 100% agree with this - we've had the discussion before that you and I grew up in the same area, and are about the same age - I think that round those parts, its so diverse that racism just doesn't exist there.

I'm a white guy, played for the Caribbean cricket club, everybody in that area are just simply people, and the banter is hilarious - why should n't racial stereo type jokes be allowed?? - I still knock about with some of my mates from back in the day, they call me slim shady - I of course in turn hit my mates with banter.

I mean, anybody made a joke about the irish before, the scots? - the Welsh? - of course, everybody has, right?

There are so many funny banter stories I'd like to share with you, but I fear the PC brigade will come down on me... now that in its self, is so very wrong!

That's all a matter of context though isn't it? If you know someone isn't going to be offended by something then you can say that to them, that doesn't mean that other people can't take offense to it personally, or if you say it soemone who is offended by it that they are a "snowflake".

That's just how life works. You shouldn't be able to tell anyone what they can and can't be offended by.

Very true. But we also have to be careful that the "offended" don't become offended at the drop of a hat as well.

Our place (work) has just published a 3 page pamphlet on how we should address different people, depending on their protected characteristic. I used to joke that one day we'd have to leave our front doors complete with a Hayne's manual on how to get through the day without ending up in court - well it looks like that day has arrived.

Yeah agreed VOF.. I do think that its gone way too far these days... I think it comes down to people either being up for banter or not, what ever the subject, somebody somewhere will be offended, somehow.

Interestingly - there was an article on the prem boards on JA606.. it was an article created calling Alan Sugar a racist after comments he made about the Senegalese football team during the world cup... he joked that the team photo reminded him of the beach in Marbelle...

I didn't think it was racist - crap joke yes, but racist? - come on!

Sounds like a fine way of helping people understand how not to make people feel uncomfortable in a working environment to me.

Funny clip.

Two months ago, I wouldn’t have known where Bognor Regis was. Does everyone here know about it?

Classic clip, there is an Alf Garnett sketch somewhere on YT. It's just a reflection of the social climate and it was funnily done. TV shows back in the day, are labelled as outrageous but actually there was a lot of clever social conditioning going on.
