Music that matters.

Ce!tic are miles ahead and Rangers a decent second....so that is done!

We used to have a music thread here at weekends, so lets go again.

What floats your musical boat and makes the hair on your back stand up?

My musical love affair started in 1977 with Space,,Magic Fly, Fanfare for the Common Man, Donna Summer, I Feel Love and Gerry Rafferty Baker Street.

Then in 79 i got into The Jam, U2 and Damned, with Boy, Setting Sons and Machine gun ettiquette ....

Progressed to Pink Floyd, Neil Young, Zeppelin, Rory Gallagher, Hendrix and Dylan in biker hippy early eighties,, and then Madchester Happy Mondays and Stone Roses before Rave.

Now, it could be Classic FM, Floyd, Slipknot, Deftones, Dance, Trance or Rudimental!

Where do you get the beat buzz?

No tyre kickers or pop fans.😜

Listening to Jimi Hendrix with a beer and holiday in Portugal on Monday.😎
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Portugal is it? Care to be a little bit more specific?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Usual...Algarve.

Cannae spell it but VillaMura.🤩🤩

Change from Albertfurios and Alvor.

Are you over too?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No mate. Didn't work hard enough at school
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That has mileage
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Tell me about it.

Mates earn twice what I do coz they could do maths and science, innit.

Plus am a workshy slacker.😍

Back to the topic at hand, what was that again?

Songs that I can hear again and again.

Hendrix - Purple Haze
The Kinks - Lola brilliant lyrics
Zappa - Bobby Brown, better lyrics

I love a lot of 80`s metal, also Floyd, rock `n`roll, Temperance Movement, etc, but those three are superb.

Latest for a good mood - Massive Wagons, Billy baloonhead

WPP..

What music are you into?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Sweaty basement punk shows are my lifeblood, but it's reggae / dub / dancehall that really puts me in the best place.

Only dabbled in punk with local bands SLF, outcasts and Rudi....as well as PIL and Damned.

Little bit of reggae from very first ub40 stuff and Marley etc...

Is Dance floor Northern Soul?

Dancehall is a bit more rough, bit more upbeat than the Bob Marley reggae style. Buju Banton is usually held up as the king of dancehall.

Speaking of kings though, there's been no greater music producer than King Tubby IMO.

WPP.

Who give it a listen as love finding new tunes

Being honest, not sure what dub is, but heard of dub step and thinking it is a form of heavy bass reggae and dance??
. 😎

You ever get to nottinghill carnival?

King Tubby.....very much a bluenose name.😊

Never been to Nottinghill carnival, looks a good party though.

Dub is like super chilled out, stripped-back, mixed up reggae. I'm no scholar, but King Tubby Meets Rockers Uptown and Augustus Pablo Meets King Tubby at the Control are two of the best dub mixes I've come across so far.
