Last year saw a major overhaul but I think we have a pretty decent basis for a squad for next year.
At this point we are the leagues top goalscorers and we have conceded a LOT less goals than last season – we conceded 50 goals last season and are on track to concede less than 30 this year. That is a massive improvement.
We just need to keep those clean sheets and score a few more goals in the games that matter!
How the squad might shape up for next season;
GK;
Keep; McGregor.
Expect to go; Foderingham, Alnwick
Need; One cover GK. Young McCrorie can also cover.
Defence;
Keep; Tavs, Flanagan, Polster, Goldson, Katic, Barisic, Halliday.
Expect to go; Worrall (hurrah!), McAuley, Wallace.
Need - at least one more first team ready CB (NOT Souttar) and either another cover player like McAuley or promote a youngster.
Centre Midfield;
Keep; Jack, McCrorie, Kamara, Arfield, Davis (Worth having around for another season if not too pricey), Docherty (deserves a chance at least), Dorrans (Ideally get rid due to fitness but no-one is going to take him. Would be an asset if fit.)
Expect to go; Coulibally
Need - a creative number 10 (a fit Dorrans could be that man. Longshot though )
Wingers;
Keep; Candeais, Hastie, Murphy, Jones (meh), Middleton (loan out?), Grezda (one more season)
Expect to go; Kent - Expect him to go to a championship team for £5m+
Need; we have signed 2 new wingers already and Murphy will be back so we are well stocked.
Strikers;
Keep; Defoe, Lafferty
Sell; Morelos - Sell. Use the cash to fund all of the gaps above plus a replacement
Need; Replacement for Morelos
In summary;
Expected Out 8 or 9 players from the first team squad (plus guys like Dodoo, Hodson, Holt etc will go).
Expected In; 5 players? Back Up GK, back up CB and three quality first team ready additions - CB, #10 and striker to replace Morelos if he goes.
Seem sensible?

Was Lennon inheriting a team that had been regularly humiliated in of games for two seasons?
Did Lennon have to oversee a turnaround of over 40 players in a couple of months when he came in?
Was Lennon completely new to the club when he came in?
Was he completely new to the league?
Apart from those key differences I guess the situations are comparable

Above is the post where I brought up the turnover of players.
Now according to you geniuses I have made an erchie of it because Lennon did indeed oversee a large turnover of players when he took charge.
The fact that was one point out of four I threw out there (hands up with no real research - I should know better, eh?) to make my point doesn't seem to matter to you chaps.
And I specifically stated I was talking about the first two months when SG came in. The impressive data I was slapped down with about lennon covered six months.
Which is pretty significantly different. The point I was making was SG was fresh into a league, fresh into a club and had to assess, empty and replace the majority of a first team squad he was almost completely unfamiliar with.
Lennon had been at Celitc for ages and knew the league and his squad.
So whilst I doft my hat to what Lennon did after six months - its significantly different to what SG has done.
And regardless the point I was actually making was not that SG was a better rookie manager than NL in the first place. I actually couldn't care less how well NL did in comparison
And if you want to look for hypocrisy then that is the perfect example. POV got all hot and bothered about specific timelines when I said I had been consistent in my expectations about Gers since the start of the season. And in his twisted mind this meant I was seemingly lying/completely discredited/whatever because I only joined here in September.
Yet when I specifically put a two month timeframe when I asked the question above and got slapped down with 6 months worth of data.....well the timings didn't seem to be quite so important to POV on that occasion
But, aye, its me totally making an erchie of things and moving the goalposts. I set it to two months and you boys moved it to six months. Errr…..ok
