Roofe

A real coming of age performance from Roofe yesterday. Considering that was only his second/third start since about February I thought he was outstanding.

Pressing, movement and the all important goal. We look a miles better team with him up top. Bielsa and his staff should take credit for the improvement he’s displayed.

Bring on the second leg.

What struck me was his strength in holding the ball up. Much of the season he has been rather weak in this regard, brushed aside, but yesterday he was strong and committed and unbullyable (new word).

My frustration was the lack of players we get in the box. There was one point where we had four players in a line across the halfway on a break, and the ball went wide left to Harrison.

He flew down the wing and crossed the ball in from close to the bye-line, but our other players had slowed down and stopped around 25-30 yards out. We have to get players in the box

He really surprised me with his performance. He was awful against Ipswich, looked a shadow of his early season form and could barely find a team mate.

I said on here a few weeks ago that Bamford was a better striker. Well I'm wrong, not when Roofe is playing like that.

Looked sharp and nearly 100% fit = scoring big goals

He looked like he'd never been out. Looked awful end of the season, he's done well to step it up.

That finish was top class

He isn’t our top scorer this season without reason.

Too bad he has missed stretches with injuries.

Great finish yesterday, but huge credit for Harrison’s vision and pinpoint cross! I shared that I thought Harrison would be a big player for us this season after a few games. He has had some quiet games but he may just be one of our big factors at this business end of this season.

Sudden return to form after being, frankly, rubbish since injury .. excellent time to get back to scoring ways!

I totally disagree with what you say.
Last season I would have agreed, but from the off this season Roofe was a lot stronger and harder to knock off the ball.

Similar for Alioski. He always seemed lightweight and knocked over so easily under pressure. Not so much this season.

Must be Bielsa's training.

Was an article on Roofe earlier in the season where he said he’d taken it on himself to do some strength training, realised he needed to be stronger... then bielsa comes along and gets him super fit.

Been poor since the injury but to be fair he hasn’t had a lot of time up front.... which it’s become clear, is the only position where he adds much.

It may have taken a whole season, but what a quality cross that was by Harrison. Top marks.
