Lewis Macleod

Released by Brentford and the rumours are he might be re-signing with us.

For me he has the potential to be an improvement on Jack in the CM. He is more creative and carries a goal threat.

His stock was high first half of the season at Brentford but he hasn't featured under the new boss.

Could be another low cost quality addition?

It's now or never for Rossiter at Rangers, as his current deal only has 1 year left. He's definitely not too lightweight though, it's the injuries. If he can stay fit he's a player, a better version of Ryan Jack.

Docherty is on a deal until 2022, we could maybe loan him out if we wanted to give McLeod a deal but pretty unfair on Docherty himself.

Fair enough. My only comment here is that I am a big fan of Ryan jack. Any better version of him will be great. I see jack as a future captain potentially.

For me Jacks game is limited. He is no more than a 7/10 player.

He is a bit of a nosebleed in the final third - really lacks creativity IMO.

Would like to see someone who can do all Jacks link play but also carries a genuine goal threat.

I agree

I like Jack but he's still got a lot of improving to do if he wants to stay in the starting 11 week in week out.

Kamara is the guy that does his link play and can go forward

No thanks.

Docherty isn't good enough either.

I am still open minded about Docherty.

If he continues to develop he could be an asset for us.

Who would have believed that a holding midfielder doesnt offer an excellent attacking threat?
I used to be skeptical about Jack but hes barely set a foot wrong this season.
MacLeod flattered to deceive when he was surrounded by cants like Kevin Kyle and Fran Sandaza.
I get that hes a bluenose, but if we genuinely have ambitions of winning the title, then we need to be setring our sights a bit higher imo.

Jack isn't really a holding midfielder though.

He certainly isn't a ball winner and he doesn't have the passing range or mobility of Davis to play that role in front of the back four.

In the current system Jack is playing one forward and it does see him feature in the final third a lot more.

And although he has scored a couple of goals (lets be honest the 29th December one was very lucky with the deflection beating Gordon) he general lacks composure and imagination around the edge of the box.

And even earlier in the season when teams like Aberdeen were just dropping off and letting us have the ball on the half way line Jack was utterly clueless about what to do with it.

I am not slaughtering Jack. He is OK. No more. A 7/10 player at best for me.

I just think with the current midfield he would be the one I would look to upgrade.

Agreed Jack is the starting midfielder most at risk.

I wouildn't say McLeod flattered to deceive, he was the stand out player by a long distance playing with some proper schite. Would be nice to see him in a decent team although i'm not 100% sold on taking him i would at least take a look at him if he'll come train with us.
