Gary Neville

Very strongly believe that this man should have some sort of role within the club, talks so much sense , and with passion.
(Perhaps Gary on the club’s future direction strategy, and Roy Keane to ‘help’ the players understand the meaning of playing for United ).

when you think back about the likes of the Nevilles and Butt and more than anyone Beckham you have 4 players there who were never the best in terms of technical ability.

what made them great players for Utd was the fact they pushed and worked there aaarses off to improve.

stories of Beckham standing on his own after training practising cross after cross, free kick after free kick... there was a whole different mentality at Utd during that time.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Beckham had better technical ability than just about everyone of his generation. What were you watching?

The way he struck a ball was technically brilliant. Cross pitch passes that landed on a penny. Yes he practiced very hard but he had a gift. It wasn't just hard work with him.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Beckham has said himself numerous times that he wasnt the best technically but it was his hard work and dedication that got him where he was, hours and hours of practice... but hey,... what would beckham know.. you must be right, after all youre a glazer out season ticket holder lol
----------------------------------------------------------------------

What a childish comment. Not that I should be surprised coming from you.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
hahahaha... well its normally your throw back argument isnt it? just thought id use it on this occassion before you had the chance

It doesn't even make sense what you're saying. Technical ability can be trained and can be just a gift ala Messi . You didn't even specify.

I assume you meant natural technical ability. But you didn't say that.

Beckham's technique was incredible. That's technical ability no matter how he accomplished it.

Of course Beckham had natural technical ability. He honed that ability to become probably the best crosser of a ball of his generation, but he could never have achieved that without his natural ability.

For a right winger No7 who had no pace, couldn't get behind a full back and couldn't head the ball, Becks did ok with his ability to pass, cross and strike the ball.

He also had an overlapping Gary Neville behind him which helped him look even better.

Beckham didn't have pace by conventional winger standards, but he wasn't slow. He was very dynamic and good over the first five yards. There are lots of examples of Beckham feinting to cross, knocking it past his fullback and getting a ball in on the run.

And obviously Beckham had good technical ability - not just his striking of the ball, but also his touch was very good. His first touch often set himself up to ping the ball wherever he wanted it to go.

Becks was an absolutely essential component of that midfield for us.

That midfield 4 was perfectly balanced. On one side was had a winger that could hurt you by getting to the byline and who wasn't a bad crosser, on the other side we had someone who could cross/pass the ball from deep. It really made it difficult for the opposition to set up a defensive line that would work.

It's a silly argument BUT Beckham had to work very hard on his technique compared with naturally gifted players like Scholes and Giggs.

If our players start taking extra practice, how the hell are they gonna have time to Instagram?

Yeah, he was brilliant with Valencia and England.

Perhaps best as a pundit..

Not sure his business empire is looking all that either at the moment
