We can argue about the quality of signings and whether some worked out or not but our problems are not just management but strategy.
If we had a plan and consistency in management, I wager a lot of the players signed would still be at the club. There are some quality players there but we just did not make it work as we had no identity / DNA for the players to feed into. Sheckshygaalball would have succeeded but he was sacked before it could be fully implemented.
In the past 6 years, we have spent over £716 million on transfers alone (over 100M every season).
So, now more than ever, I think it is important that fans be patient, let Ole do his job and begin to plan for our long term future. The approach adopted above has not worked, so some level heads are required now.
Hopefully the club understands this and starts to work towards a comprehensive strategy with succession planning a key component for the future of the club.
It is going to take 3 years in my humble opinion for us to get back to the top and with Newcastle entering the fray with their new owners, we need to get this right, once and for all.
