With VAR coming in next season , out of all our players , I believe that Smalling is going to be the most vulnerable, his long standing habit of holding onto opposing players with both arms from free kicks and corners is going to put the whole team in trouble.
.....BTW, that was never a penalty.
VAR and Smalling.

I hear the squad call him Cuddles.

Smalling’s Premier League career is over with the introduction of VAR.

I'm honestly not bitter (shat happens etc) but he should've seen red in our last FA Cup Final for his 'Rugby challenge' on Wickham that somehow (Clattenburg, surprise surprise) went unpunished.
VAR may well be the downfall of many.

It's a good point, I've defended Smalling quite a bit down the years but he's 29 now and like the article says, VAR's going to be a real issue for him. I know he isn't exactly top of the list to go, but next season I'd look to move him on after Rojo and Jones and even Bailly of he can't stay fit.

He’s also a vegan, so he has a shelf life anyway. Not only is he gonna give away penalties but he’ll lose his athleticism which is really his only positive attribute. Would Arsenal be dumb enough to buy him?
