Mental Toughness...

Interesting article ….Tottenham Hotspur are expected to be active in the summer transfer market, however, one of their most important potential additions could be a member of the backroom staff.

France Football are reporting that Mauricio Pochettino is keen to recruit Monaco’s mental coach Bouabdellah “Bob" Tahri.

The 40-year-old is a former middle-distance and long-distance runner who has competed in the Olympics on two occasions for France.

During his 20-year running career, he won bronze at the World Championships in 2009 and silver at the European Champions in 2010.

Tahri has used his experience of mentally preparing for big races by turning his attention to preparing Monaco’s players to get in the right mindset for their matches.

Mauricio Pochettino is known to be a big believer in mental strength having made his players walk on hot coals and snap arrows with their windpipes ahead of the Champions League final against Liverpool.

Perhaps he could hypnotise Levy to loosen the purse strings !!!

Modern day life and sport condemns this stuff.

I think it would be a very good move for Pochettino to make. As I wrote in an earlier post, Deli Alli needs a good sports psychiatrist.
What Pochettino is actually doing is admitting that he cannot manage ALL of his players problems, and that some of them are mental.
I think our fearless manager is really using his head!

What total nonsense. You shouldn't need anybody to get you up for playing a CL final. Whatever Poch told or did to the players before the final, it was a total failure.

Enough of the rubbish, now just get on and show us what you have should be the way forward.

I can't say anything about the guy himself, but spurs do look like they have a mental block. There are some things which can affect us at subconscious level. When you have Tottenham players referring to being 'Spursy' you know there has been an effect on them whether they consciously acknowledge it or not.

Sports psychology has been around for a few years now, so it's nothing new. Clubs should use all that they can legally and within the rules of the game to get the best out of their players. It isn't just the physical aspect of the game we need to be interested in, the mental aspect plays a huge part. It what separates a great player in a youth team from those who have stepped up into the first team. Winners from losers.

Sandy.. I cannot believe you wrote this post.
You are far too old and experienced to write drivel like this.
I assume you had not really thought about it.
Players do have "personal lives" you know. The manager can't deal with everything.
Can you explain how Sissoko, who was an absolute donkey for a couple of years after we bought him, is now our best midfield attacking player?
