Credible source.

Are there any genuinely credible sources out there when it comes to transfer targets? Genuine question. I still, probably naively, use the BBC to track our dealings as I find they at least wait until the deal is more or less done before reporting it.

I'm sure there's some utter fabrication out there but suspect that in most cases major media outlets report stories based on actual sources. Where they really let themselves and their readers down is when they report these uncritically and lend credence to what they know very well is probably baseless, albeit concocted by a third party. They know the murky world of football well enough, with agents and clubs putting out false stories to raise the value of their assets, and hangers on 'close to the player' hungry for attention. But you're more likely to read the sentence "this has been a really good discussion, RDD" on JA606 than come across a media outlet saying "we've heard this but in our view, there's a strong probability it's rubbish".

I think a lot of it is just made up. Like Salah being linked to United in the MEN. Clickbait rubbish.

The Manchester Evening News reporters normally aren't far off, unfortunately the page itself does tend to just put up every single rumour going, but the reporters themselves seem relatively well informed.

Another example of Miguel Delaney’s drivel that many seem to lap up.
