Sammy Ameobi Signs

A one year deal according to the Post after cancelling the remaining year left on his contract at Bolton.

A some what surprising signing as he's never been a prolific goal scorer; he managed 8 in 60 appearances for Bolton.

Bolton was/is a toxic environment for a footballer; Christian Doidge has been a diminished figure since returning to FGR, Bolton never paid his wages rather like the rest of the squad.

Let's hope this lad is in a better frame of mind?

Oh he also suffers from a recurring knee injury.

Not really gamble with only a year’s contract. I think it is worth a look at. He has played well in patches at a poor Bolton side. Surrounded by much more talented and focussed players, he might fit right in and increase the competition in the wide areas.

Also, name a footballer that has remained injury free to the age of 27!

I don't remember John Robertson missing a game once he was in Cloughy's First Team Squad?

Ooh, well posed! Will have to do some reason.

I think Robbo may have missed a few in the promotion season when Terry Curran was unstoppable and undroppable. A natural right winger when they still existed he sometimes played on the left with MON on the right.

1975-76 Robbo 37 games, Curran 33, MON 29
1976-77 Robbo 41, Curran 13, MON 38
1977-78 Robbo 42, Curran 0, MON 38

So it was the season before the promotion year that Robbo missed a few games. At the beginning of our first season back in the top flight many fans wrote letters to the FP saying that Curran should be in the team rather than MON. Curran was sold early that season without playing another game.

MoN didn’t turn out too shabby, though, in fairness!

Anyway, Ameobi is here to resurrect Zach Clough’s career. That is the master plan!

I think to resurrect zach clough you need to sign josh vela as they linked really well and know each others game. Still available on a free. As for ameobi a class player when he is interested. I still don't know his best position. Probably as a number 10 but effective on the right when he can cut in.

He played well in a friendly against Alfreton yesterday. Set the winner up and was a menace from wide positions. Obviously it was a pre season friendly against non-league opposition but he looked decent.
