And Neville needs to realise its wrong to tell kids all over the world that a bronze medal match is nonsense. Its that the message you want to convey to young athletes who have dreams of playing at the highest level?

I agree with nev but he sounds bitter because he was saying before how much he wants to win. It's not a bronze medal match it's playing for 3rd, always feels like an odd match with two teams who don't want to be there feeling depressed after getting so close to a world cup final.

His comments aside, there was an air of apathy as the game wore on. That, or a reflection of the quality in the women's game.

One or two people will defend this because he is a manc but what a ridiculous thing to say. Definitely sour grapes.

Why would anyone want to finish 3rd at a world cup? Losing in the semi final would be enough for me although the main goal is to reach the final and win it. Being knocked out in a cup semi final would hardly inspire me to play another match for 3rd place. Bronze is for Olympic sports, not football.
