Starting 11

We are probably nearing the end of our summer recruitment drive.

Realistically I would expect to only seem maybe Kent added on loan or direct replacements if someone like Morelos was sold.

Assuming everyone was fit my first choice eleven would probably shape up something like;

McGregor

Tavs
Goldson
Helander
Barisic

Kamara
Davis
Aribo

Ojo
Arfield
Morelos

Subs;

Foderingham
Flanno
Katic
Jack
Murphy
Jones
Stewart

For me that starting eleven looks strong and the bench gives us plenty of options which is encouraging to see. But when you look at it you quickly realise theres quite a few who will miss out pretty regularly.

With the number of games we might be facing and with the usual injuries/suspensions over the course of the season we are deffo going to need a squad of about 20 - 22.

But if everyone is available there wouldn't be any space for guys like Edmunson, Hastie, Docherty and maybe even Candeais on the bench

And this is in addition to the guys like Lafferty, Gredzda, Dorrans etc who we are currently trying to get out the door.

I completely agree we shouldn't be too far away. But just going by Celtics winning mentality, a generally established squad and a far bigger budget I would expect them to have enough.

Would sincerely love to be proved wrong obviously.

The big unknown is how celtic will improve (or not). They still have signings to make and I personally hadn't really heard of the three they have signed so far so its difficult to judge.

Hopefully we will take decent points in OF games again - with any luck celtic will continue to have an off day, or play players out of position or have injuries or whatever their list of excuses was for losing twice at Ibrox last season.

I fancy us to take a point away in an OF game this season.

Unfortunately I just worry that Aberdeen will continue to be a bit of a bogey team for us this year. They just seem to love turning up with their big farmer boys and sitting in doing feck all but then diving about like fook every time they cross the half way line trying to win free kicks 40 yards from our goal they they can sling into the box.

Theres no real logic behind it - I just have a horrible feeling we will get sucked into scrappy sh11t shows of matches against Aberdeen again and get hit with sucker punches.

Their tactics worked so well last season I see no reason why they would change it.

I think Gerrard might have agreed, that's why he's in for Helander.

According to Rino he loves a scrap and he's 6'4 so ideal for those types of games. So does Katic to be fair, both built for a scrap more than Goldson.

A few of the new guys are bigger and more physical types.

Helander
Edmundson (Not that he looks like he'll play much)
Aribo
Ojo

Will come in handy v the hammer throwers like Aberdeen, Killie etc.

I saw those comments from Gattuso.

He deffo looks like the kind of big battling ball winner we need.

He might not have the pace but the problem last season was never really teams getting in behind us. A lot of the goals we conceded that cost us were set plays.

I think the fact Helander is a left footer is probably quite a big thing for SG also. He will hopefully be more naturally inclined to help Barisic out when required. Worrall was always a bit all over the shop in that channel between the CB and the LB.

The other big improvement I am hoping we get is a goal threat. Katic is our biggest goal threat going forward IMO but Worrall probably went the whole season without getting his napper on the end of a single corner or dead ball into the box. He was awful at attacking the ball offensively.

Hopefully Helander is a bit more of a threat. Play the sheep at their own game if we have to.

I thought last season was Rangers chance.....and they came up well short Something seriously wrong early season stemming from AEK debacle with Boyata and the rift regarding McGinn. Dembele sold last minute so no replacement and Griffiths goes AWOL leaving one number 9 who isn't a true number 9. Add in the injuries that went right through the squad - we played many games without a CF or a recognised LB. Then Rodgers leaves at worst possible time and the effect that had on many players. This season I expect at least two more players coming in at positions we know need addressing. I am confident both teams will be better this season and I will stick my neck out and say we will win league again by same or more points than last season. Fook sitting on the fence and fair play to 2 Gers fans predicting a league win

Aye if Katic had been playing over Worrall I think we’d have won a couple more points. Not sure we needed to spend that much on a cb, so hoping that means he’s going to be quality.
