Danny Rose

Anyone else a bit alarmed at the this official statement from the club...

"Vincent Janssen, Georges-Kevin Nkoudou and Danny Rose have been granted additional time off in order to explore prospective opportunities with other clubs."

The other two are understandable but at the back end of last season DR was one of our stand-out performers. Even if we have Sessegnon lined up to replace him (I have my doubts about how effective he is in his own half anyway), it makes little business sense to declare players as available for transfer as you ending pricing down your assets.

Anyone else find it a little odd and very, very un-Daniel?

Nothing surprises at Spurs these days, transfer window started ok, but now has become Levy norm, balancing the books, we look like ending the window in much the same position as last season, and doubt we will be so lucky to get top 4

Trippier and Rose leaving doesnt that leave us 1 short in the HG stakes?

There's no minimum requirement for HG players....just a maximum for non-home-grown (17).

that's probably because the signing we have made is what our excess spend will be (our rewards for CL run), and the rest of the window will be prudently balancing off sales and expenditure, which to be honest is probably a good financial decision for the club.

It is indeed, but do the club have any ambition to challenge for titles, cups etc in the near future? We only needed a couple of decent signings last season, didnt happen so we muddled along just scraped into top 4 luckily, and to me it looks like that is were we will be again this season, any signing from here will miss part of pre-season and we know Pochettino's attitude to that, so may see them around Christmas

This is a very basic view of transfers. We got NDombele done, he was our top target and may be we had to pay more than we wanted to get that over the line 'early'. May be that affects whats left in the budget , but if you believe that we are in for Lo Celso and there are plenty of stories that actually say they were looking for 40m euros and then bumped it up when an EPL came calling. We will wait and try and save 10s of millions of euros to get that deal through rather than take their asking price now....and rightly so because what we save will probably pay the guys wages for a couple seasons.

The Eriksen uncertainty is also a massive factor.

Weve been heavily linked with Cellabos. I suspect that may be we'd prefer Lo Celso or the Roma player but not at the quoted price. Cellabos is a cheaper option, a possible loan option, and a possible part-ex option that could make an Eriksen to Real deal workable.

Basically its complex. Time is always a massive factor in negotiations. Some one like Betis will see 50m euro for Lo Celso as a massive sum of money, equiv. to their TV revenue. They will not pass it up but at the same time they will ask for 70m for as long as they want, knowing they can always concede later in the day. They're in no hurry. We cannot/wont be be mugged off but as the clock ticks on no doubt a deal will get closer (unless they really do not want to sell). We clearly have irons in fires and will just have to bring it all together when the picture on each player becomes clearer.

It all might fail, in which case, welcome back to the squad Janssen, Nkoudou and Llorente

Levy .must love you mate, totally brainwashed, so you accept that it is acceptable for Spurs to be always around there but never actually win anything as long as we balance the books.

So much for operating differently, it`s the same old Levy and Enic with a lack of proper ambition to take us the final step.

The clubs that win the trophies go out and spend what is required, Spurs just continue to sell players before their values diminish too far and replace them with younger players with the potential to increase their values.

Rinse and repeat the cycle over and over, which results in a club unable to take the final step.

Just one positive net spend window of 100m - 150m could get us 3 top class players and give us a real chance. Levy can always go back to breaking even every window for the next few years as he finances the stadium.

We’ve signed our number 1 target and sold a RB no one wanted and that warrants this
