I'll be honest, I don't know anything about either of them. Absolutely astonished that we're paying £72m though - would genuinely expect our board to turn down Messi for that.

I wonder if the whole #WeCareDoYou thing had an effect on this transfer at all. Or was this always planned. I suppose we’ll never know. But it was first time the club has responded to a fan protest. Could also be the Kroenkes wanting to signal intent to the fans a bit after their first summer in full control. If it does happen and we get some defenders it will have been a very good transfer window from the club considering our circumstances

Half his goals are from the penalty spot btw, but he does look like an exciting player nonetheless.

Not sure anyone suggested £4m a year was out of the question? However I definitely thought we had fack all money (in PL terms) to spend this summer, we'll see what happens at the end of it and reassess then. Looks like we've structured our transfers to suit a more limited budget which seems the best option. Once the low performers on mega wages feck off it will make difference and that is part of the Wenger/Gazidas era that still effects us badly.
