Brandon Williams

Among this very promising group of youngsters we have is a player who for me has gone a little under the radar over the last couple of seasons and maybe not been given the credit he's deserved due to the talent we have in attack and midfield.

Captain at U18 and now U23 level, right-footed Mancunian left-back Brandon Williams has been one of our most consistent performers at youth level ever since making his full debut and you might remember he was rewarded with a call-up to the senior squad which travelled to Paris back in March.

The committed defender who loves a tackle has become a real force in attack for United's youth sides with his speed, marauding runs and desire to get forward to help create and score goals.

He was outstanding again tonight in the U23s very impressive demolition of West Brom in their opening league game. Took a delicious James Garner (who was also magnificent again) diagonal pass beautifully in his stride and set up the first goal as well as supplying Garner who hit the back of the net with an absolute missile from about 25 yards out.

I hope it won't be too long before he makes an appearance in a first team squad because I think if he gets a chance, Luke Shaw might have to start looking over his shoulder.

Sum it up for us Shaun pal
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He says he’s very happy with the squad

He then mentions the ban and then losing Luiz.

Then says something along the lines of “I’m not a manager who settles for 6th or 4th or 2nd, but...I’d love to get to the CL again, but not saying we’d settle for that.

He sounds like he’s subtly managing expectations.

Highlights of Garners action Rosso?

Ashley Young says hello.

There should be a clearer pathway into the first team for the likes of Garner and Williams who are too good for the level they're playing at currently with the structure that's now in place. If they continue to play like they are for the reserves, I don't think it goes unnoticed like it would've done before.

About time you changed that bloody name btw.

I'm holding you fully responsible if Greenwood falls by the wayside now though.

Last night was by far and away the best performance at that level since Joyce was in charge and it just reflected really badly on Sbragia who wasn't fit to provide the next step in developmental football for a group of players, some of whom were coming off the back of playing under McKenna.

I could've easily been making this article about Ethan Laird as well but the competition for his position is even greater than it is at LB. It was a massive shame he missed as much of last season as he did.

Sbragia clearly wasn’t the right guy.

I was really pleased to see Mellor and Ramazani get on the scoresheet yesterday. That’ll do their confidence a world of good.

Ramazani in particular probably needed it, because although his buildup play was important at times, he was very wasteful through last season in front of goal.

Impressive, cheers.

Certainly needs to move up a level, getting far too much space and time to play looking at that level of opposition.

He's made a decent start to this season. Did pretty well at the Milk Cup.

How good is Keiran McKenna in the eyes of people who are in the know with regards to our youth structure? Heard lots of positive things about him, and it's always nice to see someone from Northern Ireland do well!
