I actually bet Cluj at 7/1 to beat Celtic at Parkhead 'cause I thought they were an interesting team with an interesting attacking style and the odds were quite frankly ridiculous. Stupidly, I cashed out for a small profit at half-time 'cause I thought we would do it in the second half and that shows what I know...
Betting against your own team is anathema to a lot of people but I knew two guys who did it regularly - my brother who would always bet Rangers in a Celtic v Rangers game - his reasoning was 'I hope we win but if they win at least I get some money'.
The other guy was a staunch Rangers supporter who over the past few years always bet Celtic and when I asked him why he said 'Celtic are a better team and whilst I hope we cuff you lot - it's always cash before the sash for me ma man. Cash before the sash'.

I've never bet on Liverpool to lose but I do other bets like both teams to score, over goals and the likes.

I just tell other people to bet on the opposition when I know we are going to lose at home (which is most weeks) just because I'm nice. Don't put the bet on myself
