Best year for movie releases?

We've done album releases so what about movie releases?

In my mind there can be no doubt that 1999 is the best year for movie releases.

The Matrix
Fight Club
The Sixth Sense
Toy Story 2
The Green Mile
Being John Malkovich
The Insider
Galaxy Quest
Three Kings
American Beauty
The Talented Mr Ripley

..and more.

Even if it was shiiit, you had the excitement of having a new Star Wars movie come back to the big screens too. And I remember the buzz created by The Blair Witch Project which was also a good thing, and not a too bad movie either.

Just a great year in general with the beginning of The Sopranos being an added bonus.

Let me just repost something I done on my thread from last week, which the OP has clearly copied

This gives 1987 a lot more context as to why it's the best year for movies:

Robocop – Best Ultraviolent Comedy Dystopian Sci Fi Satire Movie ever

Evil Dead II – Best Horror Ever

Full Metal Jacket – best Vietnam Movie Ever

The Lost Boys – Best Corey Movie Ever. Bonus points for best Vampire movie ever. Double bonus for best movies with a greased up saxophist

Predator – Best Arnie Ever

Raising Arizona - The Start of the Best Brother Director / producer combo ever

The Untouchables – Best Chicago/prohibition era Gangster Movie Ever

The Running Man – Best Richard Bachman Movie Ever

Lethal Weapon – Best Buddy Cop Buddy Movie Ever

Masters of The Universe – Best cartoon/Action Figure Movie Ever

Hellraiser – Scariest bad Guy Ever!

Planes Trains & Automobiles – Best Comedy Ever

Jaws The Revenge – Best bad Movie Ever

Didn't copy anything saaan, just branched an idea out.

1987 is a decent year...films like Predator and Robocop are top notch. Full Metal Jacket, Planes, Trains, The Lost Boys etc. are also good.

You've got some so-bad-they're-good movies in there which are by their nature questionable additions. Also I've gone off The Untouchables. Used to love it when I was younger but a lot of it is cheesy and badly directed when I watch it now.

Robocop - Clarence Boddicker is the best bad guy ever , Give me my facking phone call.

The Running Man novel is completely different to the film, Stephen Kings novel was better imo.

Evil Dead is no way the best horror ever, best horror ever is the original Halloween.

Full Metal Jacket has a good first half and a kind of boring second one. Think it's a bit overrated myself. Funny how they filmed the war scenes in London.

I would take The Deer Hunter over We Were Soldiers, just for the Vietnam scenes though, not the boring ass 1 hour long wedding scene.
