Justice with VAR

https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1163831/Liverpool-news-Premier-League-title-VAR-full-table

This was last season when every one was saying with VAR, Liverpool will struggle. Well, we won the CL and the super cup with it in place. City lost everything when it was used.

And this was the season we finished 4th.

May be VAR is coming to help us win more things.

It will both favour and deny teams for a while melton, right now city seem to be impacted by it more then others.

I think when it should be applied is proving challenging, today was a good example of that and pep is right to be a bit annoyed on it.

Like anything changing a long established way of being it will take time and will prove frustrating.

I'm still not sure where I stand on it to be honest.

Yeah it will take a while but then so did the not active offside rule and the pass back rule. The change in pass back was quality.

They need to make it quicker and I'm not a huge fan of this new handball rule even though I get why they've done it.

I think atleast in this case the handball laws clear and easily cleared up by var, players moaning at ref asking why etc like jesus was today doesnt help with the speed of things. Like players still arguing its over the line vs goal line technology.

I think it makes sense too the new law, letting it stand after that bit of fortune accidental or not is wrong. Defending side get away with it being accidental sometimes so why dont attackers now is the issue people have i assume ? Idk not paid much attention to that, but even if they do its the new rules and was refereed correctly. The pen too lamela got away with that but var is there to assist the ref and amend clear and obvious errors not re ref the entire game on every incident.

Guardiola also mentioned one that should have gone in your favour in the super cup too.

Sorry I only read the bbc comment from.him which at the time did not mention the mane incident.

Yeah I don’t have any issues with it. The last minute goal today, by the law now should have been disallowed (I don’t agree with the law but that’s a different issue!).

I did think the Rodri one in the first half was a pretty clear penalty though, I was surprised VAR didn’t pick that up. It will be interesting to see over the course of the season how it goes.

I think I mentioned in another thread. We use to have inconsistency of decisions made by refs in real time (which we still do) but refs are now also making these inconsistent decisions using VAR. Basically comes down to human judgement again for some decisions.

Win some lose some. You just hope u win more than lose.

Yep exactly that. The concern with the one in the first half is that decision was made even with the benefit of multiple viewings and angles.

I think they’ll go with the on field ref a lot with those though, so the inconsistency will remain.

i just don't like var. the human touch will be bled right out of the game. things that aren't really affecting the game will now become game changers. i kind of like discretion of the ref. i dont care about an offside that you can't see with the naked eye or the handball from today to be honest.

I have no problem with the hand ball. It was. I dont understand how var can watch that pen for city and say no.

I'm with you Montleeds. If we are not careful it will end with stoppages every ten minutes.
