Ole Removing The Deadwood

One good thing that has come from Ole' appointment is that we are finally phasing out the players we all love to hate.

Fellaini, Sanchez, Lukaku, Herrera(maybe wrongly) all sold
Smalling, Jones, Young, Darmian, Rojo, Mata, Matic slowly being phased out.

However, it's unfortunate we couldn't make signings to fill in these positions and we look a little light on options now. It is meant to be a long term re-build, and in the terms of outgoings, it looks like the re-build has started well. Just a worry about players coming in, maybe we get a couple signings in January, but I'm not hopeful.

I'm happy with the phasing out of these players, however.

Pogba & DDG should have also been on that list to dispose of also as neither wanted to stay with us and its clear DDG seems to be in demise, progressive clubs like City & Lvpool with their managers I feel would have recognised this, cashed in on them and replaced them with hungry quality players.

It's not technically a "rebuild" at the moment is it?

Just a demolition in progress.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Never understood what a rebuild is in football terms. Clubs sign players pretty much every season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Would you not take 03-05 as a rebuilding few seasons from SAF? I think those were the years, when we had Djemba Djemba and Kleberson and the likes. Only RVN was keeping us doing well.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

But we had a squad. If by rebuilding the squad you mean improving the squad, isnt that a constant thing?

Well I think rebuilding means taking out the deadwood as Ole is doing, the second part should be brining in new players to full in gaps, which isn’t happening as of yet. Yes he’s improved at RB and CB, but we clearly need a CM and another forward imo

..............

You have to be one of the thickest people on the planet if you can't tell the difference between squad maintenance and a squad rebuild.

Fortunately in this case, RDD is one of the thickest people on the planet and should be treated with utter contempt.

Also I don't agree we cannot get top players in if we are not in the CL;
There are myriad reasons why players join a club, but top of the list is MONEY, both in terms of fee offered, and wages.
But also,
Language
Input from agent and family.
Manager
Current position, but also status, is the club big enough and rich enough to get back to the top.
What country you are from.
All play a part, some we will get, some not.

I think there's a point where there isn't enough money to throw at players. Also seems like we want to change our wage structure, but i do get your point.

I think it's more the club is on a short decline that would worry players, unless other good players are being bought in.

I can see Pogba leaving is we don't make any big signings next summer.
