Gone to Roma on loan. Seems not to be here.
Ole is serious about this rebuild. I love his guts and really hopes it works. At the very least he is going to leave a team free of old mills on our necks.
That being said, Smalling is still a good defender for me. But if it gives our younger defenders a chance I'm all for it.

I don’t rate Smalling but the fact Jones and Rojo have outlasted him at the club is absolutely bonkers.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The reason why he is the one leaving is because he is the best of the rest.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Exactly. He’s good enough to play first team football somewhere very decent rather than sit on our bench. Fair play to him. I like him though and he’d not be a bad partner for Maguire at all.

"Would have cost us penalties this season on VAR review without a doubt."
VAR has done nothing

Probably our best defender. Got a feeling Maguire will get found out at a top club and selling Mike will feel like a blunder.

All the best to Smalling. His rise from non- league to the greatest club in the world, is the stuff of dreams.
And he is a good CB.
would've prefered him to stay than others who are still there. but we in rebuild mode.
I wish the club would come out and tell the fans what the plan is, cos while we can put a positive spin on it, it does leave room for others to put a negative spin on it.
Like, 'they went for Ole cos he's cheap'
Ed is concerned with balancing the books, and making the the board happy with the Quarterley numbers.
And all i can say is, 'Fair enough conclusion to come to', when i'd rather say, 'you don't have a clue'
But it does look like we in full rebuild mode, or in American Football terms, Utd are deliberately 'Tanking' the season.
In 2021, we will be a serious force again.
but for now, buckle up.
And that's the beauty of football.. take the hit. suck it up. cos when we eventually turn that corner, that euphoric feeling will feel amazing!

At the moment the only thing amazing is the Glaziers bank balance and Ed’s negative spend bonus

Yes it will. Lindelof does not inspire confidence. If Smalling was on the pitch last week, that first goal would not have happened.
I don't rate Jones but he's better than Lindelof

If have preferred to have kept Smalling over Jones and rojo but he’s more on demand unsurprisingly and Tuanzebe is first choice back up so mike wouldn’t have got much game time

Smalling is decent. Nothing more.
Serie A will be decent to keep an eye on though this season.

And that was enough to make him one of our best and most reliable players over the last six years.

If i had a choice, i'd have shifted Rojo first, and then Jones before Smalling left.
Don't forget that we still have an injured Bailly to return at some point. So i don't blame Smalling for wanting to seek first team football elsewhere.
Got to admit, it did take me a little by surprise that he choose to play abroad. But so be it.
Best of luck to him.
Except against us, if we play them in the Europa
