Closing the window early.

Was the decision to close the window early the right one or not and will we see it change next summer?

I personally believe that we should shut the window at the same time as the rest of Europe and if that means after playing a few games then so be it. We’ve seen some players unsettled after the close of our window and I’m sure a few teams would’ve liked to strengthen further after the first few games.

Should send Ian Holloway over to discuss with the other European leagues, they shouldn't dictate our rules, that's why we voted for them to go home!

If the English window is closed that should mean transfers out shouldn't be allowed either. Until then I'm not a fan as it is a disadvantage to English clubs.

Yeah that's a shout. I'm not sure why it's only the buying window that shuts to be honest.

Well the buying window is shut for all English clubs. It's just European clubs that you cannot restrict from buying because your national governing body ruled on something.

Who made the brexit comparison? Spot on

Agree. Shut it at the same time as everybody else. Whilst I agree with shutting it before the first game, that is with the caveat that everybody else does the same.

.................

Probably already been said but UEFA need have all the major leagues start on the same day and the windows open and shut on the same days.

Then it will work.

theres no need to shut it at a different time. I agree with that.

I do think the timing of before the season starts is a good idea but all must agree.

In the end on THIS occasion It didn't look like it mattered at all to the bigger teams as either moves never materialised or the big european teams had their main business all done anyway.

I'm sure if Bale or neymar had moved we MIGHT have see something happen with eriksen for example but on this occasion there was little impact.

The fact the lower leagues and scotland could do deals still meant there were players to be had like kent.

In the end Liverpool's net spend was -35mil or so after kent and duncan left (including loan fees)

quite a bit of offsetting of the 127mil net the year before

over 3 years (ffp rules) -28, 127, -35 = 64mil or 21 mil or so per year.

Its quite the bit of wheeling and dealing isn't it? especially as coutinho was the only one klopp didn't want to lose but he financed a lot of it.
