FOREST v BARNSLEY - Match Thread

This is a massive game for Forest - we really need to get a result against one of the ‘less fancied teams’ if we are going to build on the great set of results we’ve had recently and make a solid statement of intent to the rest of the League

These are the types of matches we’ve failed to capitalise on in recent years, when we’ve put in a great performance against a much more ‘fancied team’

There’s no doubt that last week’s result against Swansea was one of the best all round performances so far this season, but if we are really going to move forward and make a statement of intent, then we need to get 3 points against Barnsley. Our manager has thrown down the gauntlet to the players - let’s hope they’re ready to take it on

It’s going to be a full house, full of emotion, expectation and hope. There’s going to be a tremendous atmosphere, especially as there’s going to be tributes throughout the afternoon for our legendary manager, the one and only Brian Clough

I’ve been in Nottingham for the past few days and managed to get hold of 2 tickets for the Lower Bridgford Stand - I’ll be taking my lad along - and I’m sure it will be a very special occasion

I just really hope the team put on a worthwhile and fitting display for the occasion....but more because 3 points tomorrow, could see us creep into the Playoffs...then a positive result against the lowly Stoke next Friday, could really see us begin to take a strong grip on what could be an amazing Season

Obviously, we don’t want to get carried away, and we take it a game at a time - the team needs to be fully focused and disciplined, but many feel more positive about where we are at present, than we have for many a year

COME ON FOREST - please don’t let us down now

One of those games today where the vast majority of the crowd expected Forest to stroll it. Creates a certain kind of pressure where they probably try too hard. Not sure if that was the case?

Back to back wins was Lamouchi’s aim prior to this match so it is mission accomplished in that respect. 🙌🏼

Does anyone know for sure or is it an urban legend that when Forest play Arsenal away in their stadium, we get to play in red and white and that Arsenal play in their away colours, due to us donating our colours to Arsenal when thay were first founded?

That’s not true. Forest always play in their away kit there. The most famous example in recent memory would be Brian Rice racing away and chipping John Lukic at the Clock End, Highbury in the late eighties to seal a 2-1 win in the FA Cup Quarter Final if you remember.

Yup, I was there

Exactly. Result important, worries about performance can be addressed in training.

That pass from Nigel! Arsenal were no slouches but it was rare to see a team cut so wide open by one ball, especially in such a high stakes match.

It was a brilliant team which managed to get to the Semis of the FA Cup, and I believe finish 3rd in the top League

It was also the dawn of Forest making 7 Finals at Wembley in 4 years

There seems to be a definite lack of sheep around at the moment. Anyone else noticed that?

As usual they disappear when things are not going their way.

They can't say "mind the gap" as the gap is ours
They can't gloat that they have higher attendances because they don't.

They can at least console themselves that they have more comments on JA606 than us.

Yes, would have qualified for the UEFA Cup for that 3rd place finish too if it wasn’t for the soddin’ Scousers at Heysel.
