100m Event And Final Ruined

Anyone else feel that the 100m has been completely ruined by the doping cloud hanging over Christian Coleman? I think so. The fact Coleman is winning by the distances he is, for me, only leads to more doubt over whether he's clean or not.

They need to change the whereabouts rules. If nothing else then for the months leading up to any major championships. No athelete should be allowed to get away with being missing on multiple occasions in the lead up months. Watching an athelete win a final where I was actively having to ask "Is he clean" before the first heat race was even run. Ruined the whole thing for me and IMO shouldn't be allowed to happen again.

Needs to be "You miss tests or fail to report anywhere in the 3 months before a major comp then you're automatically ineligible to compete in said major comp. With people able to appeal with good reason. And good reason is, someone died, I was hit by a bus, my kid was being born etc. No I forgot, I didn't know or anything else weak like that.

Do you know what his reasons were...?

Just wondered

Very suspicious sprinter.

Athletics is all about who has the best lab. All the top athletes dope.

Not sure of his reasons but given the speculation surrounding him, they obviously weren't convincing. Just think any doubt should mean no championship. Athletes have to be made to attend these things. Too many miss these things too frequently, so clearly the rules need tightening. I bet nobody would miss them if they knew that doing so would cost them a major champ's spot. Only answer to remove this type of doubt. Season long testing and you miss the test without a life or death reason before champ's then you miss out. Can't have competing athletes unaccounted for at any point. Too many cheaters around nowadays.

. . . and on another point, why the hell are these World Championships being held in Doha? The temperatures are too high for the athletes - air conditioned stadium - totally false conditions. 28 women dropped out of the marathon last night and the top 3 women all said the conditions were horrible. The stadium has only been partially occupied up to now - the Men's blue riband event (100m final) a case in point - more empty seats than occupied.

Don't answer my question. I know the answer. Money.

Men's 100m low attendance could well be partly fan protest at Coleman being allowed in it. Athletics fans are sick and tired of doper golds and these days, have no tolerance for drug scandals. If I was there, I'd not have made a point of leaving before that final. I suspect plenty of others never bothered with it today also. The doping cloud meant it wasn't worth watching.

Doha was a poor choice. Not just for the heat but for what appears to be a total lack of native interest in athletics. There's more travelling fans than home or at least that's how it looks.

Qatar more must have spent billions in bribes over the last ten years, ensuring that they got the World Cup and these championships. Because it was a poor choice for both. One so poor it only could have been made because people and atheletics/football associations worldwide all just got so much money thrown at them, they just couldn't say no.
