Jorginho

Deserves some love

Big performance and great penalty take as ever vs Brighton

Also unsurprisingly he is the main penalty taker, not Barkley

Let’s not act like Jorginho was great all year though. He had a pretty poor few months mid season. If mount does the same then he should rightly be dropped too

It depends (via Mount). The difference with Lampard is how young he is in managerial terms, his philosophies subject to change overtime. Sarri was only ever going to play one way and we didn't happen to have another player who could play Jorginho's role - so from Sarri's prospective he was untouchable (whether that was right or wrong).

It's just my personal opinion, but even if Mount has a dip in form at some point, as long as the team as a whole are sticking to the same methodology (i.e. pressing high out of possession) so it's clear Lampard wants that embedding into the team long term I'll understand if Mount stays in the team.

It's a circumstantial thing. If we were the finish product where everyone knew the football in their sleep like Pool or City, full on form selections would make sense. But while we're in development of a style certain key players within that are exceptions.

BTW, only got triggered into pro-Jorginho mode because of 'nepotism'.

Sarri was (still is) FAR more chummy with Higuain than he was with Jorginho, remember him calling Higuain a wonderful man before we signed him last year

Agree with this Nick. All we want is things to be judged equally and evenly with no untouchables and imo Sarri did have his favourites for whatever reason and D.A. I do agree with you that Higuain was another one that he seemed to favour, even when he clearly wasn't performing either.

He's right back in favor at Juventus..... CR7, Dybala, Manduzakic. Nope, Higuain's up top.

Serious bromance stuff going on there

yup pretty much my sentiments. As one of jorginhos biggest fans on here, its amusing to see people in the media saying how chelsea fans are taking a shine to him THIS year, when it was really the back end of last year that jorginho put in some fantastic performances.

One of my co-workers is an Inter fan, always has Serie A on his phone so I feel somewhat knowledgeable this year. Sarri's struggling just a little bit in general atm. Juventus aren't quite clicking yet and Conte's got Inter playing very efficient football. Their match on Sunday feels critical already, if Inter win it they might be difficult to catch even this early.

It's battle of the Chelsea castoffs this year - Sarri, Conte & Ancelotti all managing the top 3 clubs. Good stuff

yeah will be interesting in italy, would not put it past conte to get a result against juve despite juve having such a strong side. Conte was fantastic at setting a team up and getting a 1-0 win.
