The lack of ideas away from home

Unai Emery is failing tactically to address Arsenal conceding goals.

Without Aubameyang and Lacazette I don't know where we will be. I also don't know how Xhaka earns captaincy when most Arsenal fans think he doesn't deserve a place in the first team.

Apart from the long balls Xhaka would find harder to convince majority Arsenal fans how he deserves a place in the Arsenal first team. Arsenal suffer big on the counter with him in midfield.

The treatment of Torriera is wrong. He is playing a complete different position. He may be tiny, but the guy has better agility and energy than Xhaka playing deep-lying midfielder for us.

I also harsh things about Pepe who just joined us. Forget the price tag. We are not playing to his strengths. He is dribbler. He likes to interchange positions by occasionally coming as number 10 like when he set up Saka whose shot was saved by De Gea and sometimes wide. Yes, his crosses need to improve a lot better, but I think he is player who relishes when the team is on form. Let's wait Lacazette, Bellerin, and Tierney to join the first team. He needs time.

I also don't get why we don't play this formation away from home...

......................Leno.....................
...........Sokratis......Luiz..... Holding......
.Chambers/Bellerin... Guendouzi..... Torriera....Kolasinac/Tierney
..................................Ozil/Ceballos..............................
.................Saka/Pepe/Lacazette...... Aubameyang........

Perhaps, Unai Emery lacks ideas. Because the formation when we're without the ball we can become back five to stop crosses and on the counter we have three instead of two centre backs. This could be advantageous on the road as we'll reduce number of goals we concede.

So which captains communicate to the fans about how the club is progressing? Who does that? Henderson doesn't, Lloris doesn't, Keane never did. It isn't 1970.

Secondly the captain doesn't communicate managers instructions to the players. Does Kane run back and tell the defenders what to do, does Lloris tell the strikers what the manager wants? The on pitch role of the captain is basically no existent these days. The key role of the captain is the link between players and coaching staff away from the pitch. Someone who the manager can trust. Someone who sets an example in his actions and the way he conducts himself on the training pitch.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

What do you think taking the 'captains' press interview means? They all have to do it. Be it Kane before England games or Henderson before Liverpool matches. You just don't hear about it unless something tasty is revealed. Its a press requirement. Just like the manager's presser. Do you understand why that is? Its because the captain represents the club to the fans! Sorry if you have cruddy Liverpool captains but thats their role.

As for captain's role on the pitch. Only the captain is allowed to talk to the ref. Do you know that? When a player does anything wrong on the pitch its the captain who sorts him out on behalf of the manager. This is why its up to the manager to appoint the captain. This is doubled for any youngster. Thats the whole point of the importance of a captain!

If you think that captain does nothing whats the point in having one?

You're saying that a captain gives a press conference before every game.... is that what you're saying?
Only the captain is allowed to talk to the ref
And I didn't say the captain does nothing, I have highlighted quite clearly what the captain does.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Its in the fecking laws of the game. And the captain is most times put up by the club when they request an interview.

There are lots of things in the laws of the game. So I'll use Lloris again. Does he come out of his goal to speak to the ref? Never seen him running 80 yards to contest/ argue a decision.
And nope, the captain isn't most times put up. In fact during the world cup it was rotated. Before our CL final Henderson did one, as did TAA as did VvD. Henderson didn't do more than either of them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

So now you walking it back? Captain has a role to fullfil on the pitch and as the face of the club! Why do you think there has been such a fuss at Arsenal about appointing a club captain! Don't you see the massive contradiction?

If you are now giving me examples of when it wasn't done is the exception to the rule and not the rule. And if they got away with it is because it was wrong and not whats supposed to be followed.

---------------

Because there are 16 players in that side and you're only allowed 11.

What a nonsense. At what point, don't you get / one of these players? Or you just like to troll people?

For the last time. The players voted for him.

Probably rigged by Unai.
