I was also disappointed with the joker we got at the end of the movie, even though I thoroughly enjoyed the build up and Joaquin's performance - he never really shed himself of the meekness imo even after he embraced the darkness.

Also surprised that people are talking about how deep the film is because I felt like it was intentionally very vague about its messaging and if anything didn't say anything at all. In general I thought the incredible score and cinematography were let down by the writing which is a shame.

There's a few other things to complain about too but It's definitely a *good* movie, I'm just struggling to see it as a masterpiece

Very well made, it was a difficult watch in a great way.

Not on the level of Nolans Batman trilogy imo however the acting from Phoenix is second to none and really makes the film.

Who would you want to play Penguin in an original story though? Cillian murphy would've had a great face for it but he's already been in a couple batman movies.
