Was in a certain drinking establishment until late last night.
They had a program on about Hristo Stoichkov. Sound was down as we had 'musical entertainment' so I could watch it without being distracted by the mindless chat you get on these programs.
What a player that guy was. Absolutely brilliant and scored goals that nobody else would have even attempted.
Got me thinking...the usual suspects for GOAT would be Messi, Maradona, Pele, Ronaldo and Cruyff. Beckenbauer used to get a mention but not so much now.
Which players do you put on the very next level?
Stoichkov is definitely in there. Others I have seen would be Maldini and big Thiago Silva...just for the way the could stroll through matches. That was something to see.
Genuinely world class but not quite at the GOAT level.
Give us some names...especially blasts from the past that we've forgotten.

Once saw a documentary that involved Matthias Sindelar. Austrian pre war player that died in mysterious circumstances after embarrassing the German side in a game. Gonna try find that to watch again.
