A different point of view

Worth having a look at the highlights of the Birmingham game on BCTV

Enough said about our finishing, but if Birmingham had taken their chances in the second half, we would have been in trouble. It looks like we allowed their midfielders to run at us and pass through our defence on two occasions. It would be interesting to hear from people who were at the game. It was a big occasion and the 3 points were vital, but we really miss Forshaw, Pablo and Coops. Oh, watch out for the Leeds goals. Blink and you'll miss it.

People on here said the substitutions affected us negatively, especially in midfield when Klich came off and Nketiah couldn't hold the ball up like Bamford. You've not offered a different view point, we're all pleased with the win but fully aware that we were pushed hard for it and could have dropped points late on.

First half completely dominated

Not sure if they even got in our half.

Second half, they had plenty of good half chances.

But hey, bamford is garbage.

Love to know who decided Eddie would be a good signing to replace roofe

Need to stick to champ manager, because they know fook all about real football

A telling moment for me was when Bamford was one on one with the keeper and back-heeled it for Costa. His first touch was poor, and then he ran to the keeper's right instead of heading for goal. He does this quite often, making it easier to save his shot. He believes he can't score and backheels it in the hope it finds one of our players. This is the sign of a striker who is not backing himself. I keep hoping there is a finisher in Bamford, that he will come good, but for all that he brings to the team, his goal-scoring is no better than a midfielder.

Actually disagree about that back heel.

Shot would have been blocked, so gave it to some in a better position. Would should have buried it.

And he’s had a barren spell, which before that, his record was 1 in 2 for us.

Stays fit and in the team, will get at least 15 and I would back him to get over 20

Bamford has been in that position time and again this season and failed each time - backheeling to set up a player with a great opportunity was absolutely the right thing to do.

The reason strikers go wider is to give the keeper a problem in covering the angle - it is much easier for a keeper to shut down all the angles if you are going straight at them in the centre of the goal

Losing our spine to injury has been horrendous - we need to get these players back (Coops, Forshaw mainly) while Pablo offers us so much in everything he does.

Bielsa needs to leave Klich on the pitch unless he's dead on his feet

Thought Eddie looked far from sharp on Saturday, Bamford starts for me everytime but he can still improve, seen no mention of Alioski on Saturday, missed a clearance that they could have scored from, took the worst free kick seen for many a game, produced some sort of move better seen on strictly but without the ball and missed a sitter,

I really don't get this Nketiah hype, sure he scored a couple of goals early on but I just see a limited player that at this point in his professional development needs time on the pitch but not at Championship level. Very few teams in our division would be starting him, part from anything else it would be unfair to put lone striker responsibility on the guy. Sure he wants that, but that's the audacity of youth talking.
Start him and you run the risk of us playing as we did for much of the second half on Saturday.

I don't remember many Birmingham chances that made me worry, save from a late header. Mostly just potshots from range that Kiko dealt with fairly comfortably.

Unfortunately Bielsa likes one up front and because of this it has to be Bamford. Eddie comes on later if we are struggling and can afford to have two up top.

I was at the game and noticed the difference when Bamford went off.

Also his back heal was perfect and should have lead to a goal.
