Finally. 8 years too late. An apology

Well done Carragher however this does have a feeling of awkwardness given how many people supported the decision at the time, particularly on here.
With racism being such a prominent topic right now I guess the time was finally right to reflect on what was such an obviously ridiculous thing to do.

be very clear, carragher working for SKY apologised to a SKY pundit (evra) on SKY for the benefit of a SKY program.

It all sounds great but what actually occurred? LFC did not apologise to Evra

It is very clear that irrespective of views on the thing and sides taken other peoepl of colour could and probably were affected by those shirts in some way. probably small but it does all add up to a them and us type thing.

It should never have happened and speaks the the amateur owners, senior management and Rodgers at the time.

Its clear FSG have learned along the way and if a bulgarian team did that they'd be savaged (rightly)

I agree with everything you've written apart from Rogers wasn't the manager, Dalgleish was.
Rogers has plenty of his own nonsense to deal with!

Thanks. My mind was playing tricks you are dead right. It was kenny's last year in charge wasn't it.

for the record. Of course the t shirts were wrong.

My point is this "Apology" is an internal SKY TV set up. Its not LFC apologising the evra for wearing T shirts.

there is a distinction here. LFC need to actually decide on that matter not carragher. He can personally apologise of course but the fact is it was a clear "set up" for sky tv. Did he apologise in private at any point? who knows....

At the time Suarez would have been better off denying he ever said anything or LFC should have just made a statememt saying he was in the wrong. The stance they did take was ridiculous really and is the type of balls up I'd expect from United's board now. You can't admit to racist language and then wear tshirts supporting the player.

I don't think Suarez is racist but he should really have known better.

Pretty much this

He didn't admit to racist language. He admitted to saying 'black'.

He could have said he didn't day anything but instead choose to say that he did say 'black'. The one thing that both agree on. For me this adds more weight to his account.

Not discussing guilt. Just the clubs and players decision to wear t-shirts.

Carragher is a rat who spits on people. He should never have been brought back and anything he says cannot be trusted.
