Winter Games

Hey guys

The cold, long nights are finally setting in - my favourite time of year; not least because I finally get to catch-up with my backlog of video games without feeling guilty about missing out on the sunshine.

By far my most prolific gaming spree since post-uni adulthood, clocked Resident Evil VII (brilliant), DOOM (ridiculous, but good fun), and Zelda: Breath of the Wild (I'm torn - I loved it, but the relentless hype it gets I feel is OTT) in the past few weekends.

We're coming to the end of this gen, and a lot of the obvious big-ticket games don't arrive until next year (exception of Death Stranding), so I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations that I might have missed out on during the past couple years?

I've picked up most of the obvious ones on / near launch:

God of War (joint #1 for me);
Bloodborne (other #1);
Spider-Man (top 5);
Dark Souls 3 (top 5);
Horizon;
RDR 2;
GTA V;
Last of Us Remastered;
Uncharted 4;
FFXV;
Crash N-Sane trilogy.

Just ordered Shadow of War and South Park: The Fractured But Whole on Amazon as they were about £10 each.

Also got Pokemon Sword on pre-order (and booked the day off work to play it on launch...never grow up, man).

Any more for any more?

Hey Amiga

I don't have VR at the moment - waiting for the next gen version tbh. I've read a lot of your stuff on it and it does sound appealing, I just think it'll be v2 or even v3 that really helps it kick off into the mainstream.

I can imagine horror games like RE are awesome on it though!

Wouldn't argue with your reasoning, but if you enjoyed Resident 7, Wait till you play it in VR, takes it to a whole new level.

Might pick up Spiderman, still not played it.

Deffo recommend it, Mike. Such an easy game to pick up and play for an hour or so.

Graphics are awesome and the story is fun. Not quite difficult enough, for me, but I suppose it's supposed to accommodate a younger audience

Wouldn't bother with the DLC, personally.

Cheers, yeah I figured it would be a nice one to get to make the most of my new TV and upgrade to the PS$ pro recently, plus the dark long nights and a bit of time off over christmas!

Any word on Days gone? I was mega hyped for it years ago when it was first shown, then it sort of took ages to be released and came and went with a whimper? Worth picking up for £30?

Days gone is one that has me interested. Reviews were ok, but anyone who has actually played it seems to really enjoy it. and has actually sold really well.

It's a game i'm looking at, which is rare these days, as most my gaming is VR.

I’m still retro binging at the moment, just completed Tomb Raider 96 now onto number 2 .
